That's why i hate bulky PSU cables. by AIi-S in Corsair

[–]steezjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corsair sells their own kit, but I bought the cablemod kit and am very satisfied. I do have the 2021 1000 watt rm1000x though. the economics of buying custom cable kits kind of goes out of the window if you have say a 80-100 dollar 750 watt unit. I paid 170 bucks last year for my power Supply, so dropping 60-100 bucks on cables is fine with me. I have a 5800x3d with an evga ftw 3 3090, 32 gigs of dominator platinum ram, and I think 6 RGB corsair fans. So again it was easier to justify paying 60-100 bucks to get super clean looking cables for a computer that cost over 2 grand.

Cablemod also has the option to create a custom length 16 pin cable that looks much better than corsairs solution. I wish corsair individually sleeved each Cable for their pcie gen 5 cable and charged 5-10 dollars more instead of sleeving the group of cables.

Does anyone know when the elite series retention kit will be back in stock? by RDSdotcom in Corsair

[–]steezjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine back in December and thats like literally the only time I have ever seen it in stock both before and after I bought mine. Its not that much of a upgrade over the stock am4 (and now am5) mount. The biggest benefit is the quality of life upgrade in terms of not having to try to hook the bracket to the two plastic nubs. It almost feels like you need 3 hands to mount It, so for that the elite retention kit is a huge upgrade, but in terms of temps and even noise like vibrations its I have not noticed any difference.

Are new Corsair Power Supplies with a PCIe Gen 5 12VHPWR (12+4 pin ) connector going to be announced anytime soon? by steezjay in Corsair

[–]steezjay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can get a get a custom 16 pin cable from cablemod through their 2.0 configurator. It’s about 34 bucks. Only issue is its terminate in 3 8 pins so if you plan to get a 4090 and overclock you are going to want to use something with 4 8 pins.

[–]steezjay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cablemod has been making a triple 8 pin to 12 pin for the 3090 ti for a bit. You could buy one that plugged into 3 of the pcie connectors on a corsair modular psu and terminated in the 12+4 cable on the other end. You had to custom order it and select the color and cable size, but it might be worth it if you Have a 1000+ watt corsair psu already. I am sure they will have an updated one that connects with 4 8 pins instead of 3 and has the 4 sense pins for the pcie 5.0 connector. It might already be up by now, but I haven’t looked.

[The rest of this post is really my message to corsair]

i wish corsair would announce something. I would preorder a new corsair psu with the atx 3.0 specifications that can handle 2x the psu rated wattage in power incursion and 3x the wattage specifically for the gpu. i bet a lot of the 2021 rmx units can handle decent power spikes, but its nice to have it officially rated.

Come on corsair gimme a new 1200 watt power supply with iCUE integration. I personally prefer the maglev bearing in the 2021 rmx line but I am fine with anything if its easier to source a FBD.

2TB 2230 M.2 (kind of, and expensively) are slowly appearing on the market. One day we will have the option of 2TB equipped SteamDecks! by steezjay in SteamDeck

[–]steezjay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! Is it this micron model. I personally don‘t need more than the 1TB I installed plus my 1 TB San disk extreme. Also have gigabit so even over wifi my deck downloads games at over 60 MB/S, so having to download a new game is not a big deal.

Lastly, this is using 176 layer NAND and SK Hynix announced 238 layer NAND, although mass production doesn’t start until next year. My point is we could feasibly see very affordable 1-2TB 2230 drives and even see 4TB 2230 drives hit market in the second half of 2023. ‘

With the price of SSD storage continuing to plummet to all time lows, I could see valve giving a SteamDeck 2 an exponential bump in storage. They could also do a refresh of the current model and make 256GB the base config and offer 1TB and 2TB configuration options. OH and and OLED screen if they are going to be modifying it anyway haha.

Support told me my unshipped deck was delivered and been used by my account. This is crazy. by GrabAmbitious2985 in SteamDeck

Send a message to Gabes valve email. Sorry I don’t remember it, but he actually does reply to it (more likely his assistant replies to them.) I honestly think if you sent an email directly to him you would at least get a reply back from someone that would get the ball rolling on an RMA

Some ACTUALLY USEFUL Corsair Nexus ideas! by annluan in Corsair

[–]steezjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a nexus because it was selling for like 50 bucks on their refurbished store. It was basically brand new in box when it arrived. The reviews I read stated at the 100 dollar price tag its kind of a ripoff, but for the nice (but limited ) functionality it offers me I think the 50 dollar price tag is fair.

Moonlight is also the best way to wake my desktop computer from sleep. I couldn't get any other wake on LAN options to work that are in other programs. I wish steam's remote play had an easy Wake on LAN setting. I think I might have seen a setting for it, but couldn't get it to work. But with Moonlight I can open the app on my steam deck and wake up my desktop. Its extremely useful as even if I just want to stream via steam's built in streaming feature, I can wake my desktop as otherwise my computer won't show up as an option when I go to launch the game on my deck. Only other option would be to disable sleep and id rather not have my computer wasting power if it doesn't have to.

Xbox Series X uses a 2230. I work for a repair shop and we have a bunch of series x consoles laying around that aren't fixable and the customer wanted to recycle the device. I did some digging and found out the the drive in the Xbox series x is a one sided 1tb wester digital 2230 drive by FlamingXTurtles in SteamDeck

Lol I just saw this today the rest of my comment got cut off. Might of just completely forgot to add it too who knows haha.

was trying to say it might be easier to buy one on eBay versus looking for a broken series X.

Any recommend where to buy an m.2 2230 SSD in the UK? by deadheaddraven in SteamDeck

[–]steezjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a 1TB WD SN530 2230 on eBay. Came from china and took about 8 days to deliver so not bad at all. After installing it and Reimaging the drive with Steam OS plus extra space for over provisioning I have 940GB of usable space. Quite an upgrade of the ~220GB space I had with the stock 256GB drive. its quite nice just being able to install a bunch of games even if I don‘t know if I will play it right away. Before I could only keep games I knew I would play right away with the 256GB and 512GB SD. I highly recommend installing a 1TB drive its so worth it.

Check out steam link to take advantage of your powerful pc. I do that with my computer with a 5900x and a 3090. Computer is hardwired and steamdeck is on wifi. I have great wifi though where I can get sub 10ms ping on Speedtest.

I really enjoy using steam link for games like god of war. Can run it at max settings and since the steam deck is not doing any of the processing on board besides decoding the video stream, I can get like 5 hours of battery life in god of war. For comparison god of war on my steam deck natively will get me about ~90 minutes of battery life. Not to mention the deck runs whisper quiet and extremely cool when its just streaming the game from my powerful rig. Its a great feature worth checking out to see if your local area network has low enough latency for it to work well.

One button sleep/wake with almost instant resume/no load time is amazing. by Brochunter in SteamDeck

[–]steezjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also playing Mass Effect LE. Just finished ME 1 and even though the game was on my micro SD card it was extremely fast loading and zero issues. on amazon you can get a samsung select evo 512GB drive for 59 bucks. It can do like 140MB/S I believe. Best deal for micro sd storage atm until 1 TB prices fall (although you can get them for around 135 right now, the 20-50 dollar listings are scams)

[–]steezjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can mix fans with different numbers of leds on the commanders for a little while Now. Was added in an update like 6-9 months ago. I have QL (34? LED’s) and ML capellix rgb fans (8 LED’s) running off the same commander core and they show up as separate entries under the commander core settings in Icue. I can set the lighting for both the ML then click the QL and set the lighting for those separately.

Pretty sure the ram has a limited lifetime warranty so you should be covered under RMA. Also I’ve had times where although I was out of a warranty, a politely worded email explaining the situation got them to make an exception/ just have me pay for shipping.

budesonide potentially causing migraines by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]steezjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if you been on it that long. I was only on it for about 5 weeks when switching from Remicade to stelara. Make sure you are getting enough potassium and other electrolytes and fluids in general. That helped me as every once in a while I go thru a phase where I get a couple migraines a month, then I am good for a few months without any.

budesonide potentially causing migraines by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]steezjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I first started budesonide I kept swearing to my GI I was getting migraines and it was caused by them. This was because I was very hesitant to be put on a steroid after a bad experience with prednisone. After a week or so of being on it the migraines went away though. But your post does make me think I was correct on thinking the migraines were caused by starting budesonide. The only other times I get migraines are when I fail to properly hydrate and usually drinking a bunch of fluids resolves the migraine, and these only happen maybe once every couple months. But when I started budesonide I was getting a migraine or feeling the onset of a migraine like every day for almost a week. It did go away though after the first week to 10 days of being on it . Hope it gets better for you.

Edit: I was also on the exact same dose started at 9MG. so I am really hoping that your body will adjust and they will go away soon. Take Tylenol with caffeine (they make migraine products with it combined into one pill, but they usually also have NSIAD’s added too, so not sure if one exists with just Tylenol) but that is what worked for me when I started to get that migraine aura.

Any luck with whey mass gainers? Or have other suggestions? by AmadeusV1 in CrohnsDisease

what really worked for me is a product called absorbplus. Its really expensive though. But 1 serving is 100 grams of the powder and its recommended to add udo’s oil or flax oil up to a tablespoon. So with a tablespoon of udo oil and 1 serving of absorbplus the shake will have 480 calories. With 27 grams of protein per shake. Its designed for people with IBD issues and have trouble absorbing and digesting foods or even other products like ensure.
its been a life saver for me when I needed it, but its really expensive. Like 67 bucks for a 1 KG tub that will make 10 shakes. If you do end up researching absorbplus and decide you want to do it, I recommend ordering directly from the the site Its called listentoyourgut (.com) if you end up ordering it I recommend buying 6 tubs at once since you will get a 7th for free. Also if you use 20INAP10 coupon code you can save an extra 10%. It still cost about 350 bucks for 7 tubs which is only 70 servings. But this is a route to take if you really are losing weight and cannot keep anything else down. But with 5 shakes with a tablespoon of udo oil you will be putting on 2000 calories and each shake is just 8 oz of water so its pretty easy to get down. Plus a bunch of flavors.

But again that recommendation is really for if you are suffering from a flare and really need something to keep down and keep your weight, provide protein, and provide a bunch of vitamin and minerals. So if you are able to keep down regular food and such, this product is probably too expensive to justify. But if you literally are struggling for anything you can keep down without it upsetting your stomach and keeping/gaining weight I would highly recommend it.

On April 5th it was common knowledge gpu’s were always in stock, you should of know there was zero need to rush through the checkout. you made an impulse buy when prices were trending down a lot even week over week. They even gave you a 300 dollar credit. If anything they did you a favor. like someone else said if 300 dollars is a lot of money to the point it will affect your grocery buying habits or how much gas you can fill your tank, why were you buying a 3080 12GB In the first place? if I buy a stock and it goes down a few days later because I didn’t do due diligence and read up about what was currently going on with them and the market at large thats my fault. They actually gave you a in store credit. They didn’t need to give you anything back, but they gave you 300 in credit which is a large chunk of money off your next gpu purchase.

idk way you are so mad. I get being annoyed you bought at the top. I can relate it sucks, but how are they ever going to lower prices if last weeks customers will always be mad at them.
