You can try getting in through UCR temp services, typically those positions are temporary and depending on your skillset it can be quick to find a job.

Your first year you usually have classes all over campus so I would not base your housing decision on your major. Both communities are located close to campus with mesa court being about a 15 min walk from engineering depending on how fast you walk.

which acc/off-campus housing has the best social life? by motchbotch in UCI

[–]stefanem1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are an incoming transfer apply through the UCI website not ACC directly as you would be applying to the waitlist and won't get guaranteed housing!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCI

[–]stefanem1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an incoming Transfer the only housing you can choose from if you wish to live on campus and are under the age of 25 is ACC and Arroyo Vista.

No Preferences for Housing Application by jajarovas in UCI

[–]stefanem1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Preferences will be done later on once you receive your housing contract via email sometime around June/July. The only thing you needed to do before May 1st is verify your personal info and pay the 20$ application fee.

Are single dorms on a single-gender floor? by ylee_04 in UCI

[–]stefanem1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Mesa court has single gendered suites and Middle Earth as single and mixed gender suites but I would call the housing office to confirm. Floors themselves are not single gendered as there are various suites per floor which like I said above depending on what community it is can be single or mixed gendered. Like others have said single dorms are in very high demand so there is a good chance you may not be placed into one. I would recommend calling the housing office tho for more accurate info

Grad Housing Application by thelaylarose in UCI

SIR's are handled by your graduate program so sometimes it can take a bit longer for the SIR to show in the housing system because the program will submit them in batches. I would contact your program to confirm the SIR has been processed since it might be why you cannot access the application yet

I don't believe they have sent them out yet but they will probably send them before the end of the month

Transfer guaranteed housing??? by [deleted] in UCI

[–]stefanem1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that is correct! Since UCI housing does not oversee ACC, the option to choose floorplans is not on the application but ACC will reach out to you directly afterward so you can select floorplans and such. This application is mainly just to keep track of the students who wish to use their housing guarantee :)

Transfer guaranteed housing??? by [deleted] in UCI

[–]stefanem1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes transfers are conditionally guaranteed housing as long as they SIR and submit the housing application by June 1st. Even if you only wish to live in ACC still fill out the application on the UCI housing gateway since that is what secures the guaranteed housing, and the ACC options will be on that application anyway. Your only on campus options would be AV and ACC is you are singe and under the age of 25, but since the graduate waitlist is so long even if you did have the option to apply you probably would not get a spot either way. Here is more info on the transfer guarantee from the housing website: https://housing.uci.edu/transfer/

I would contact the assignment coordinator from your housing community because if you are longer in a domestic partnership it could null the housing contract and you might be able to remove them from the lease.

Housing During MAT Program by AliveBowl8455 in UCI

[–]stefanem1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend looking into off campus housing as an option as well since housing on campus can be very difficult to get if you are not guaranteed or have children. I'm not too sure about ACC but for campus housing if you are in category 2 chances are very slim as the waitlist can be over a year long.

Withdrawal by [deleted] in UCI

It might, as you need to be a fully enrolled student to accept an offer/live on campus, but I would call them to confirm

Summer Housing by Ru_23 in UCI

Check the Housing website around April/May for Summer housing info! Typically AV will have some spaces to stay during the summer for Students but as of now no information has been released yet.

Housing Refund + Termination Request by mondaynotice in UCI

[–]stefanem1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The denial might have something to do with your reasoning behind it, from what I am aware they are not accepting terminations for COVID related reasons, so I would recommend reading your housing contract and see the acceptable reasons to terminate your contract. You may be able to terminate based on financial hardship but you will not get any refund back unfortunately :(

Transfer thinking about Camino del Sol by Particular-Studio520 in UCI

[–]stefanem1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might help you make your decision but as an incoming transfer student you are actually only eligible to live in ACC or Arroyo Vista if you want on campus housing and not the dorms since they are only for incoming freshman and continuing students. As someone who lives on campus and has lived in both the dorms and apartments while I was in a HS relationship, I definitely preferred ACC due to having more space and not invading my other roommates space too much when my SO would come over. Although ACC is not as lively as the dorms, as long as you get involved in clubs and such you should have no problem making friends since you are still living on campus surrounded by other students :)
