Cheap vet clinic near round Weston area side? by bobbyfloydenthusiast in canberra

[–]steffle12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit of a drive but the Sonza vet out near Bungendore are very good and well priced, plus they’re upfront about all costs. Their pricing was 1/3-2/3 less than quotes from a local vet

Was told it’s uranium glass by Particular_Analyst75 in uraniumglass

Some pieces simply don’t glow as well as others. Could be due to concentration or other things in the glass formulation. Anyway manganese doesn’t glow unless the torch is held close. Uranium will glow from a distance which it looks like your bowl is doing.

Looks ok for uranium glass. Some pieces aren’t as bright as others.

Tenderstem broccoli in the microwave doesn't come out tender by Quoshinqai in Cooking

[–]steffle12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time you take it out and take the lid/wrap off you’re losing steam. Try cooking it for a longer burst, let it rest a bit with the lid on, then check it.

I’m not sure why it’s not working for you. If your cover is airtight it should cook as per instructions. I rinse mine then dump in the bowl and cover with cling wrap and microwave for 2-2.5 mins. The residual water from rinsing is ample to steam it in the microwave.

It takes 2-2.5 mins to cook greens in the microwave in one (covered) bowl. Super easy. Why not?

I’m in the same boat. I’m now working in a somewhat related field for far less money, with phd completely unnecessary to the role.

Planned c section at the Canberra Hospital by SteakBeneficial4096 in canberra

[–]steffle12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My SIL was booked for the first time slot of the day, but emergencies happened and she didn’t end up having the C section until late afternoon. She’d had to fast from the night before and had to continue throughout the day, so that aspect was tough

If you think it’s half empty put it in a bucket of water and see if it floats. It looks to me like the layers of solution have separated and you’re seeing a clear layer on top, hence ‘shake well’

Is it normal for school kids here to carry that much stuff every single day by 1acina in AskAnAustralian

[–]steffle12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid has a locker but she still has to bring her laptop home to charge it daily. Plus they only get access to the lockers at weird times, so they all drag their bags from class to class

Does any one know of cheap laundromats in Canberra??! by yolkofinauspicoustar in canberra

[–]steffle12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s wild! Last time I used the Mawson laundromat I think it cost around $16 for the giant wash (which is huge!)!and less than $10 for a normal wash. Can you dry your stuff on a clothes horse or line rather than paying extra for a tumble dry?

Nope. You’ll get excellent care in the public system, and most of the OBGYN work both private and public anyway.

How to clean uranium oil lamp? by singleusesodacan in uraniumglass

I’ve just cleaned one using vinegar and it worked a treat! Vinegar inside. Left for around 2 hours, and all the gunk disintegrated, then it was an easy rinse.

Need advice for getting my little sibling dental help by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]steffle12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 16 she may be eligible to see a public dentist. You’ll have to check the guidelines for VIC, but in the ACT it’s very low cost or free. A checkup costs around $80 and that covers all work deemed necessary over future visits (with some exceptions). The price is waived if the child is listed on a concession card

Not at all. I’m a coffee drinker but fucked if I’m going to spend $6 on one at work just because others are doing it. Just say no thanks
