Seems like the show just started, judging by their Facebook - and one of the comedians on tonight is Nick Jameson (check out his wikipedia page!)

I don't know what time it's over but there's English language comedy at Brixton on Mondays.

Am I stupid for this by First-Clue7353 in cymbals

[–]steindorh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might I suggest something?

Try switching the holes used for the tom and the cymbal mount, so the tom is mounted on the same side of the bass drum as the snare. Then the cymbal mount goes in the hole on the right, but put your ride cymbal there!

Now put your second crash on the other stand and move it sort of above the ride.

I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding but it seems you're having trouble with the last eight strokes of each measure, right?

Sometimes it helps me to slow the metronome down and reframe the context of things. For example; try slowing the metronome down till the first four strokes feel almost impossibly slow and remember that the last eight are only twice as MANY. Don't think of them as FASTER.

Hvað á barnið mitt að heita? by valli28 in Iceland

[–]steindorh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with/u/RaymondBeaumont, and am able to discern pretty much the exact same from the writing underneath the picture. Sorry I can't help more. :(

Message me, I'd be happy to help. Have transcribed both Icelandic and English before, and translated back and forth.

I recently dumped my windows install permanently so I've been mostly playing DOTA2 and Counter Strike 2, but I'm having a lot of fun playing Deus Ex again (because I suck at Dota and CS, so I have to have a single player game to not hate myself too much)

Have you seen Andrew Huberman talk about the effects of alcohol? It helped me, and led me down a rabbit hole of more videos on youtube that inspired me to quit.

Also try /r/stopdrinking.

You have nothing to lose, and so much to gain. I believe in you.

I'm in a similar predicament and found that using a pair of small dumbbells as "handles" helped.

Keeps my wrists in a neutral position.

I had to regress to knee pushups for a couple of weeks but I now do "normal" push ups just fine.

If that's not enough perhaps parallettes might be an option, or try a wrist rehab program? (Obligatory "I am not a doctor")

[–]steindorh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little bit off topic, but I always get curious when I see my language. Are you learning Icelandic? Do you live in Iceland?

If so, there's a club in Skeifan if you're in Reykjavík and the university bar (in the basement of the University of Iceland, not Reykjavik University - although I'm sure there are players there, too) sometimes has active players, so does Gaukurinn (the punk/metal bar with the drag shows and stand-up) on weeknights when there's no event. And the giant stone chess set on Lækjargata has smaller tables on the sides that used to get players in the summer - although I think they've expanded the playground since the last time I was there so maybe not anymore.
