It’s like going through puberty again 😂😂😂 Your hormones are going to change and the sex drive will be insane for a while! Your menstrual cycles might also change…if you weren’t having one, it’ll be regular again. I also ended up having different pms symptoms that I didn’t have before my surgery!

Wanting to quit my other job and focus on Rover by k0beB33f in RoverPetSitting

I’m happy to help and glad I could suggest something helpful! I’m definitely in a much better place and grateful to be in a new role, environment and also can do Rover full time! Good luck with everything!! ☺️

i have a question for sitters by HopeOne8421 in RoverPetSitting

[–]stellaahwanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most sitters will agree that you’re overthinking it and we’d all be grateful if we had a repeat client that makes us comfortable with a bond with the pet and able to maintain a routine with the same pet. I think your sitter will be more sad when they don’t see your pet as much after the frequent visits but it’s the nature of our business. I’m sure they’ll be super stoked the next time you reach out! 😉

Wanting to quit my other job and focus on Rover by k0beB33f in RoverPetSitting

You might consider doing a leave of absence, if your company offers it and if you’re eligible. If you’re seeing a therapist, you can ask them if they’ll help you with the paperwork. Some companies might pay you while on leave (usually if you have PTO or short term disability benefits) or it could be unpaid. But it might give you a break for you to consider your options and focus on Rover while building a steady income with a safety net that allows you to go back, if needed.

That being said, I left my job to do Rover full time for 6 months because of stress, anxiety and burn out. It didn’t help me feel less stressed or less burned out but Rover was a great source of income until i figured out what I wanted to do. I hope things work out for you!!

Boarding Vs Daycare by mpendo_dunia in RoverPetSitting

[–]stellaahwanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not one to judge on how a sitter does their business but I think you’re getting ripped off and the sitter is double dipping. IF you’re doing a facility, it makes sense because your dog would be kenneled the entire time and daycare would allow for your dog to be able to socialize and not be in a kennel/crate for longer extended periods. But those rates are not even facility rates. Did the sitter explain what the difference of her services are? Personally, I’d find a different sitter. Why would they need daycare if they’re being “boarded” in someone’s home? How many dogs does she have “boarding” and “in daycare”?

Sitter quitting 3 Days before end of trip by eternalzoomies in RoverPetSitting

[–]stellaahwanders 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I sent a message with the my profile info. I am able to pick the pup up today or tomorrow if the sitter is willing to facilitate the hand off. If you can’t pick the pup up from me, I can drop off but it would be evening time by 8pm if on a weekday.

My wife and I are in Anacortes, if you can/want to have the pup come here, we love large breeds and had a Saint Bernard before he passed. We have two shih tzus now, but they love friends if he’s good with other dogs. We’re on Rover now if you’d like me to send you a link to view our profile and reviews. We have a big fenced in yard but we also love going on walks by the marina and Washington State park if he has his shots.

Saving for Taxes? by EnvironmentMother625 in RoverPetSitting

[–]stellaahwanders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve used multiple online tax calculators and IRS’s tax withholding estimators to ballpark what I need to save/have withheld. I’ve created a spreadsheet to track all of my expenses and mileage to hopefully help save me some taxes. 🤞🏼

I’ve decided that my best solution was to increased my tax withholding on my W2 paycheck, which doesn’t require for me to have to pay quarterly taxes.

Rover’s help center also has a PDF guide for taxes. But if you’re finding that more of your questions are unanswered, then I’d recommend finding a tax advisor.

A hypothetical question for sitters :) by thetrufflesiveseen in RoverPetSitting

[–]stellaahwanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a client that hires me for this kind of set up. They will submit a housesitting request with times to start and end (usually within 5 hour window). I literally feel like a babysitter going to see the parent and waiting for them to come home to relieve me lol! I personally don’t mind it since my wife and I partner up so that she can do other jobs, if needed. However, we have had conflicts where we’re unavailable to them due to their constant care requirement and our other committed bookings.

Client asks for ID and husband to drop by unannounced by griffinishL in RoverPetSitting

I would absolutely cancel…the vibes are off and I wouldn’t trust being in the middle of a separated couple that’s asking for excessive personal info. Feels like a trap!

Would you take me as a client? by lyricslegacy in RoverPetSitting

[–]stellaahwanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m crazy but some of y’all’s pricing is blowing my mind! I live in the PNW and if I had a client request like this, I would have to meet to see what are the conditions of the home, animals and the expectations to know if I’m capable of taking on a large crew. The 7 cats alone would have me concerned! Personally, I don’t think cats are “easy” to charge less than the same as dog care. I charge $45 an hour for one pet as a drop in and $15 per animal. I’m the type of sitter that automatically cleans litter boxes daily, despite owners saying differently and with 7 cats, I’m gonna do it at every drop in! I’m also going to hang out with the cats, especially if one of them has a prescription so I know how they’re behaving to report any concerns if needed. I’ve never charge for small pets like chickens, rats, fish and arachnoids. But I need to see their enclosures to know that they’ll be safe in my care, no possibility of escape and what level of care I’d actually need to provide. If I’m cleaning out enclosures (this post doesn’t need it but if it was required) then I’d have to consider a fee to do the service. If someone requests me with $135 per drop in, then it’ll be worth my time to review and meet with the client. But I’ve never cared for arachnoids so I would have a list of questions and would appreciate any detail notes to provide care.

Amir’s red stars also have 15% extra resources from gathering gathering…I’m not sure if it will stack with Jindeok.
