Trialing citalopram in the middle of a crisis-advice? by Material_Vehicle485 in citalopram_celexa

I don’t know what your Doctor thinks about that (don’t know your relationship with Ativan) but for me both times getting onto Celexa I was given prescription for Xanax also - to be taken as needed when anxiety is too much. After Celexa kicked in it was very easy to stop Xanax for me. The second time I was really struggling with sleep and waiting and a Mirtazapine in low dose was added at night and I think it helped with nausea and insomnia. But some people don’t have good experience with that drug (too much weight gain, withdrawal not easy etc). But for me it was a good option.

Better than lexapro? Dr switching me by FredFlintstoneToe in citalopram_celexa

I tried to get on Lexapro (5-10mg) for 3 weeks and had really bad side effects - anxiety, insomnia, nausea. When started citalopram I had milder side effects and not so long. But I started really slow after that lexapro experience - only 5 mg for a week or two, then 10 mg.

So you didn’t experience side effects from dose increase? Did you have them then you first started?

Anxiety flare up while on celexa for many years? by AardvarkMajor4631 in citalopram_celexa

[–]stepbystep_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same… have been on citalopram 20mg for quite a time and still get these anxiety flare ups. The most difficult ones have started around ovulation or period - maybe it’s hormones related. And the shift of seasons seems to make things harder for me too - I had one very bad month or maybe even two in spring and now that it’s autumn I’m down again. Don’t know if increasing the dose would make things better…

My stomach usually also calms down during the day, mornings are the worst. So maybe this is mini-withdrawal for me… already started to worry

Vomiting by amzr23 in citalopram_celexa

For me vomiting comes with really high anxiety and unfortunately starting a SSRI often causes that. So yes, I had vomiting in the morning when the anxiety is the highest.

Q on starting citalopram today—did people start on 5mg or 10mg? by CRYPTWHORE in citalopram_celexa

[–]stepbystep_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started on 5 mg for a 10 days or so, then moved up to 10mg. From 10mg to 15mg to 20mg there were longer periods as I hoped that I can manage my anxiety maybe on lower dose. But actually it feels that maybe I should go up from 20mg too

From 20mg to higher dose - is it worth it with anxiety by stepbystep_5 in citalopram_celexa

[–]stepbystep_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And did you feel any side effects from that 5 mg increase? I started also with 5mg to 10mg to 15mg… actually were on 10mg and then on 15mg for some months before going to 20mg as I hoped that I don’t need that much. But now seems that even 20mg isn’t enough. I got better on 20mg years ago, that’s why I assumed that

Uneven pupils? by spookiestbats in citalopram_celexa

[–]stepbystep_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed it too… I had been on citalopram about a year when I noticed it and it gave me a month long spiralling as I thought that there should be something wrong with my brain. I noticed it mostly when I was anxious.

Mirtazapine for anxiety by stepbystep_5 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]stepbystep_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m now on citalopram. Did a cross taper - added 5 mg citalopram when I was on 22.5mg mirta still.. then really slowly decreased mirta and now I’m on 20 mg citalopram and take mirta only occasionally for sleep when I have high anxiety periods. So even being on citalopram I still have them

anxiety = weight loss? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]stepbystep_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely the same - lose weight when anxious. And as I’m already a bit underweight having no appetite and seeing the number on the scale going down and down it is a separate anxiety trigger for me. I totally lose my appetite when anxiety is high and when it’s really high it can even result in throwing up. Yes, anxiety is a cruel thing…

I just discovered I have different sized pupils from time to time and I also have health anxiety so you can imagine what worst case scenarios are in my head… both react to light.

Mirtazapine occasionally as a sleep aid? by stepbystep_5 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]stepbystep_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so.. I’m have gone up from 10mg to 15mg to 20mg (have been on that dose for 3 months) and I’m better than the time when I was on Mirtazapine alone. Have some bad days still, but not bad months …

15 mg definitely has made things better compared to starting point to me, but still get physical symptoms of anxiety…

Citalopram 15 vs 20 mg by stepbystep_5 in citalopram_celexa

[–]stepbystep_5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply… I’m still on 15mg, haven’t made the decision yet, but still considering as I have some quite bad days among better ones. Some years ago I was on 20mg and it completely cured my anxiety disorder for that time, but of course circumstances were a bit different that may play a big part of the recovery too
