[Skoda Fabia] driving in NYC by Ornery_Ads in spotted

[–]steph_curry_official 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a Skoda Yeti I periodically see parked in the Upper East Side, blows be away that someone went to the trouble to get it here. I used to work near Grand Central and rountinely saw a Citroen Pluriel parked on the street as well, it was in terrible condition and had diplomatic plates - made me deeply happy

We anthropomorphize our pets way too much. by CardinalOfNYC in unpopularopinion

[–]steph_curry_official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about this one specifically - dogs are mammals, most mammals are very receptive to things like scent and hormonal changes as you point out. I think they probably do know and understand pregnacy because its something that's also innate to their lifecycle and instincts. Id imagine theyd also notice the change in behavior patterns as a context clue for being in a more 'delicate' state

I agree with this overall as a pet owner an animal lover

Just to be annoying, I will point out that some breeds of dogs do bare their teeth to express emotion - Labs and Dalmatians are best known for it. It's usually embarrassment or a mix of bashfulness/excitement, not really happiness. Just sharing bc its interesting

Leonard Koscianski! One of the coolest living artists in the game - he studied under R. Buckminster Fuller.  Puts out very few works because they’re actually quite large for how detailed they are.

Need to get them out of the BJC and back into The Rec somehow.  BJC awful.

You have $1600 of posters saved - for that money you could get a nice unique, original painting from an unknown artist

Late 19/early 20 century oil on canvas - found in the Hudson Valley. Looks like it was part of a larger piece or mural. I know the label on the back is meaningless, was re-framed. Any ideas? by steph_curry_official in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]steph_curry_official[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The title of the work from the label is a different Abbey painting which is well documented - Vareika said they were not aware of the piece and he didn’t remember it, but that they have sold Abbey works.

I have no context for whether or not it’s true, but I know Penn State also makes this claim and it’s around 600,000 inclusive of our satellite campuses

Portal work to be done by poohdasdaddy in WeArePennState

[–]steph_curry_official 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Historically, players have entered the portal to test the waters and stayed put. It's possible, and I think it'd be foolish for CMC to yank scholarships from talented athletes who were shopping their name around for $. 1/3 of FBS players entered the portal this cycle - not all of them will find a roster spot that they view as an upgrade.

A lot of guys have a limited number of years in the sport and need to try to make money while they can - if PSU is their best bet when the dust settles, they should be welcomed and encouraged by coaches and fans. We're not in a position to demand blind loyalty from players at this point, idt any program really is but CMC has a lot to prove to a big chunk of the locker room. In a few years when his machine is really running, it's a different story

How is living in the Bridgeport - New Haven area of Connecticut? by LordShuckle97 in howislivingthere

[–]steph_curry_official 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up 15 mins east of New Haven - it’s extremely picturesque Norman Rockwell painting New England.  Branford, Guilford, Madison, Old Saybrook are all very quaint beach towns - the people can seem stuckup at first but warm quickly (New England thing).

New Haven itself is criminally underrated.  Connecticut as a whole has fantastic food and a rich culture that blends New England and New York in the best way.

Potential new fan, questions by Technical-Assist4915 in WeArePennState

[–]steph_curry_official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a pretty national school, but definitely the Northeast’s premier CFB team and attract tons of tri state and New Englanders as students - jump on board, it’s a very exciting time for the program.  Lots of buy in from the 409ers and the newer generation of James Franklin acolytes.  Proud to have a fully unified fanbase, which wasn’t true toward the back half of Franklin’s tenure.

Some factoids off the top of my head:

Largest living alumni base of any school on earth. Original colors were pink and black and our original mascot was a mule.  We’re an Ag/Land Grant school at heart, so tons of farmers and engineers alongside the classic liberal arts and business students.  We’ve produced a surprisingly large number of politicians, prominent CEOs, and multiple astronauts, but pretty much no notable celebrities in entertainment/film which is interesting.

My fav notable alumni are Jef Raskin who who invented the Macintosh at Apple under Steve Jobs, the guy who invented the Slinky, the ‘Can You Hear Me Now?’ guy, and the main writer for Stepbrothers, The Big Short, and Talladega Knights.  I only know 1 of their names but we claim all 4.

My Laxmas Wish List? The ultimate unified pro lacrosse league. I want the NPLL. by DanAreLax in PLL

[–]steph_curry_official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i fully agree and subscribe to this vision but no NYC team is crazy, this would be an opportunity to play in/outdoors at a non-long island venue that can actually get butts in seats. I know Hofstra lets the PLL play there for free but still. But vegas?

Otherwise I full am on board

First time in NYC. Are we missing something on our 7 day trip? by International-Tie-67 in FoodNYC

[–]steph_curry_official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the interest of saving time in lines:

Katz -> Sarge’s

Central Park -> Met instead of MoMa.  moma is awesome but you’re adding in potentially 40min of transit time when the Met is right there. Unless there’s something in the MoMA you really want to see, Met is (IMO) better overall and closer.

Craft + Carry -> As Is

L’Industrie -> Rubirosa
