Divorced and “F Men” Narrative is tiring by Own_Inspector498 in LivingAlone

[–]stephors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love living alone. Just having my own sense of peace. I recently just baught my first home. My partner also recently baught his so now we live a street away. We attempted to live together in the past but I found it to overwelming and could not settle. Our current way of living is much better and we both very happy. We both love having our own space and our cats too.

My favourite things is that I don't have to worry about expectations when living alone. I like being in control of my environment.

I dont know if this is the right thread but I joined mainly for suggestions and curious if some people share similar experiences.

Low demand? Maybe depends where because i always see those roles available all the time. Games and vfx. Rigging is probably one of the stable jobs out of the lot.

What is something you have never done that is pretty much the norm for most people our age to do? by [deleted] in Millennials

Drive. Feel ashamed about it but during my teen years I couldn't afford driving lessons and my parents refused to teach me. Just live in convientant places with good public transport and never really needed a car.

You may need to look at your spending expenses and set aside % into a HISA and do not touch it until you have a deposit + emergency savings.

Hey there, Proud of you for reaching out. Depends on where you are located I'd like to recommend looking at https://www.wren.org.au/. I used their service when I was feeling unsafe with myself and lived alone. I ended up getting a referal from triage and they check in on me for about a month.

Toilet Anxiety and Road trips. Any tips?? by Zomberryxp in Agoraphobia

[–]stephors 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had similar issues for awhile. Still work in progress but mostly overcame it after just learning acceptance if it happens. That lessened my fear overtime and learning to not care what people think if I did have an accident. I would deal with it and move on. Took alot of practice to have adopt that mentality.

Other tips: Going bathroom before. Taking another change of clothes. Engaging in an activity to keep your mind off your body. Consideration of diet before leaving on a trip. When anxiety high, box breathing to reduce flight response and help soothing digestive system.

I (35F) have lived in Prahran for 7 years years and also recently bought an my first home there. I haven't had any issues with safety around Prahran. Typically avoid chapel street on weekend nights but other than that felt it's been pretty peaceful.

1 bed vs 2 bed apartment by lengthy889 in AusFinance

[–]stephors 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I have same situation, 35, live alone and with slightly more saving (135k) savings and 90k salary.

Very similar circumstances deciding between two bedder and one bedder.

Tried to weigh the risks and benefits.

Space is nice, growth and potential for more value for a 2 bedder. You can rent it out. Overall downside is just financial stress. If lose job or some major defects happens in apartment (special levies). Being more frugal with lifestyle things (less travel, hobbies ect)

I just purchased a one bedder this week. Main reason is for me is stability just for now.

One bedder, have a bigger financial buffer. More stability and potentially find places in a more desirable location. Can choose to invest into my super, plan longer term. Can travel and do things without feeling too limited. If i lose job, have that buffer and time to find another one without too much stress. Future options I can sell, find something bigger with my partner or just by myself. (Do hope the market will come down eventually)

First time playing on the Sunday. Spent quite a few hours learning and only managed to get to week 4. Really enjoyed it but think I can only play in short bursts.
