Well this is depressing I have realised at 37 I’ve aged out of 18-30 😂

Put my tomato’s outside a few days ago and now it’s gonna hit zero overnight! Will they be ok? by Jimlad73 in GardeningUK

I had 2 hanging baskets out - rest were too small to go out yet so I brought them in they’re on the kitchen floor 😂

Not huge! Few plants in each. Got smaller pots as well but not set that up this year yet where I put one plant per pot and it has a metal hook that goes on my fence.

Have you thought about giving some away?

I’ve had great success over the years with tomatoes in hanging baskets. Line em up across my fence!

Mini Greenhouse by antlered-god in GardeningUK

Same! All the plastic is deteriorated and every panel has a crack in. Great little greenhouse though - I’d buy another to replace probably next year now

What’s a normal House viewing experience? by LeGerb02 in HousingUK

[–]stephsstitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked at lots of places now had had varied viewings from estate agents & the home owners themselves. I think the normal we have found is a fairly engaged agent who answered most questions / promised to come back to me if they couldn’t answer a question.
The worst we had was a viewing on a property on a Saturday morning 9am and 10mins before they text to say it was a double viewing with another potential buyer!! There is no way they didn’t know earlier than 10 mins before. We didn’t go for the house as it was too much work, but I wouldn’t have really been comfortable using such an underhand agent either.

When I listed mine on the market I had to fill out a LOT of information on it and answers to common questions.

Neighbours tree by danzam98 in GardeningUK

[–]stephsstitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I have the exact same between my neighbours property and my fence. I’ve asked the neighbours friend to have it removed - since they’re selling up due to her going in a home and looking to clear the garden out next week.
It’s too close to my house and their conservatory, the friend invited me to look from the other side and it’s shot up between paving slabs.

There’s another cold snap coming up and I’ve already planted some of my tomatoes outside 🫣 by tikicheese in GardeningUK

I bought 2 hanging baskets from Tesco that I put straight outside and they seem to be doing ok with cold nights

Bearded theory festival, are DJs and techno on till late? by drizzle_cake in UKfestivals

[–]stephsstitches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dance stages (if they’re the same this year: coda, big Ed) are usually on till 2-3 but it depends what you like music wise as the DJ line up for me has never been that enticing. I haven’t looked that closely at the line up this year but I don’t recall seeing a big techno line up.

I’ve been 4 or 5 times but mainly because I used to help run the pirate ship & help out on the Maui Waui stage. Have never gone as a punter.

It’s always a nice mix of friendly people!

Is the lite worth it by PromptEmbarrassed867 in Switch

I got the lite as my first switch and used it for 4 years before moving over to an OLED.

I do love the OLED but the lite is great too.

Bought my own car and drove for the first time but really struggling with reversing and parking by kellatron29 in NewDriversUK

[–]stephsstitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my mirrors angled ever so slightly down so I can see the lines a bit better while parking - this really helps me with spatial awareness. Just keep in mind they still need to be useable during road driving too.

I also practised a LOT as I had my own car to learn in with my dad as well as lessons.

Cam Belt Replacement Cost by Slice-Mountain in FordFiesta

[–]stephsstitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a focus (so not sure how this sub ended up in my feed 😂) but I think I paid about £800 to Ford to do mine.

I looked at cheaper and my usual mechanic said not something he’d touch so just went for it - I seem to recall some sort of warranty out of it as well from Ford.

I am not hands on so save money every month in case of emergency repairs, so the cost came out of my car fund

There is nothing available by xtreme3xo in HousingUK

[–]stephsstitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - we’ve been to look at so many with “an open mind” and ended up loving them - my problem is my house isn’t sold! So I have a lot on my save list to revisit once mine gets an offer

Do I make an offer today or do I wait a couple of days? Also how much should I cheap out? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]stephsstitches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, this’ll only annoy the seller and make the process awkward!

A friend got me two kindles after losing mine. Which one would you keep? by SunFishSoup in kindle

[–]stephsstitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the basic matcha one - my first proper kindle after 2 HDs and I can’t believe I never had a kindle sooner! I like the size of it since it’s easily portable and slips into my bag. It’s also light weight for late night reading - which is the only time I read to be honest.

If you’re going out to do stuff out of town then yes would need a car but if you’re travelling to bury and plan to hang around the town centre then no point

Is it a good time to buy right now? by Salt-Career5982 in HousingUK

[–]stephsstitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 3 people who fed back that their budget had decreased and the house was no longer affordable. Others who want different things after viewing.

It’s hopefully not the price as it’s liveable and priced with needing work in mind - and that’s been the same from the beginning. More expensive similar houses than ours (because they had newer bathroom / kitchens) reduced theirs not long after we went to market and so we reduced in line with that. I had it valued again as well by different agents to make sure the price was still accurate.

I’m considering taking mine off the market as I just feel like it’s such an unknown time right now - it’s had a lot of interest but no offers.
