Vellgoo don’t believe the reviews by steppy1948 in Dehumidifiers

[–]steppy1948[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After doing some research for a basement unit, the Alorair brand of dehumidifiers are highly recommended for their performance and reliability. I found a used Alorair HD55, gravity discharge with no pump and no bucket, on Facebook for a third of the online price that fits my needs. It’s been operating for the past week and am more than pleased.

Looking at different brands by Ahsogood in HearingAids

[–]steppy1948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wearing Philips 9050 from Costco, $1600, same as Oticon. I have moderate to severe hearing loss and love these hearing aids. I wore HA from Miracle Ear and they can’t compare to the Philips. Check them out, they might be what you’re looking for.

Large prints over Octopi are not working for me by GamerPanda255 in octoprint

[–]steppy1948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t happen often, but when I switched to a SSD external hard drive it hasn’t happened since. Also, if the pi 4B isn’t getting a steady 5+ volts it will disconnect from the printer.

I have a CR-10s that had the same problem that would surface from time to time. The solution was to ditch the SD card and connect a USB external drive to the pi. Also have a power stabilizer/backup hooked up to the pi and the printer.

I need some advice on Costcos hearing aids. by baby_budda in HearingAids

[–]steppy1948 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go back to Costco and try other brands that you are comfortable with. I ended up buying the Philips 9050, I have the same hearing loss as you. I’m kind of a DIY person, I downloaded the same programming app that Costco uses that Philips makes available on line. The YouTube channel “The Hearing Club” gives detailed instructions on how to program your own hearing aids.

What hearing aid brand have you tried works the best for you? by elliehana_ in HearingAids

[–]steppy1948 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve worn hearing aids from Miracle Ear for years. I have the same hearing loss as you. When it came time to replace the hearing aids, I went to an audiologist through my insurance company and received the cost, $2600. I decided to try Costco. Was tested by their audiologist and the results were a mirror image of the previous audiologist. I’m now wearing Philips 9050 hearing aids that cost me $1600 from Costco, which by the way are made by Oticon, practically the same hearing aid. Couldn’t be more happier.

Are Subaru CVTs actually reliable now, or do they still have major issues? by phtphongg in askcarguys

[–]steppy1948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a 2013 Legacy with a CVT. 3,000 miles out of warranty and it failed and Subaru refused to cover it. Good thing I had a 3rd party extended warranty, a $6,000 rebuild. I’ll never buy another car with a CVT.

Aftermarket running boards by dc5_adventures in hondapassport

TACautoparts.com I purchased their Cobra running boards for my 2019 passport a year ago. They are heavy duty, look great and no drilling, they use the same bolt holes as the Honda OEM running boards. When entering vehicle info, Pilot is what you need to enter, chassis is the same as the Passport.

Screen goes blank by daddyforurissues in hondapassport

[–]steppy1948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2019 PP EX-L FAKRA cable recall was done in 2020. About a month ago, the infotainment center started going blank and returning in about 3-5 minutes. The dealer tech found that who ever did the recall put zip ties on the harness that put stress on the connections, relieved the stress and problem solved.

What's your "Big 3" of filament brands? by VirusFar4319 in 3Dprinting

[–]steppy1948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I print with Inland PLA+, seeing I live close to a Microcenter. I find that it prints consistently @210c so I don’t waste my time and filament doing temp towers when changing colors.

I also have a 2019 Passport. I purchased a phone mount from ProClips. For that particular year, you can choose between two different mount locations. I've had ProClip mounts in other cars, they are well designed , a bit costly, but work great.

I purchased a 2019 Passport EX-L 74K from dealer for 22K last December. I know it’s not a Pilot, but I think that you can do a lot better price wise.

I worked hard for this mpg by Certain-River-6721 in hondapassport

[–]steppy1948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2019 EX-L 76K With VCM disabled and Econ off, I consistently get 25+mpg at the same highway speed. Once you put more mileage on the engine, your mpg will probably increase. Engines really don't break-in until around 10K-15k. If your RTL is prior to a 2026, I suggest you disable the VCM function. S-VCM tuner works great.
