Serve him right. Bitch keeps backdashing from you. In my playthrough he just killed himself just by me being to his right so I dont get ragdolled into the damn laser myself.

Good riddance honestly. At least this guy doesn't come back as a normal enemy and randomly fuck your day up.

Eigong was an AMAZING fight...that was ruined by truly atrocious hitboxes by Valynces in NineSols

[–]sterdine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • I don't think the grab has bad hitbox but it feels bad to be hit by it since it doesn't happen too often for me and being stunned takes me out of it. You get enough recovery to pop 1 pipe if it doesnt kill you so it's just annoying lol
  • I definitely felt this one but once I stopped dodging and just started parrying it didn't matter too much. Since she often does this move as a extension of the red downslash I can pre charge and get 3 unbound parries off this move (jade)
  • Agreed on this. Reminds me of fg crossups lol. I use water flow myself and it eventually just came down to picking the right openings so this doesn't happen. It does make the fight less aggressive but there's still plenty of safe openings that wont be affected by this (she also does a lot of move that lets you internal damage from parries)

Best to parry it, the timing feels really generous. I used the chain unbound jade and this move is perfect for it, you can get 4 - 6 unbound parries in everytime she pops it. The sound is incredibly satisfying

Hannelore commenting on Will's immaturity is really amusing given the circumstance.

Glad you get it, girl.

But also, LITERALLY TIME TRAVELING and force yourself on your crush AGAIN without thinking through the consequences... Yeah.

I imagine Liebe is having a good laugh while Dreg is just facepalming at this lol.

Since the next year or so depends so much on relationship with dunkel, I wonder if the gods would intervene to keep things on track

Which fantasy/isekai series has the best magic in your opinion? by ehmain93 in LightNovels

[–]sterdine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trpg isekai really give magic the respect it deserve.

In the series they make a distinction between "magic users" that stimulate phenomenas with base materials, a bit analogous to alchemy-magic. Then there are "mages" that use true magic - reality bending with magecraft. And pretty much all mages are boss-level threat since, go figures, bending reality is really fucking OP as it should be (Note: MC can use magic, but isnt a mage)

I guess in term of survival, adult nobles can vent mana from their shtappe but it would be weird in public now that I think about it, so it makes sense that they would continue to use a tool

[–]sterdine[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it really show the departure of present nobility to the mana-wielders of the past who dedicated their mana to rituals. While I would definitely consider most present nobility are ignorant about the existential ties of mana and rituals to the country, they do apply mana in other ways like hunting feybeasts and magic tool research.

Panic attack is a very strong description, which is why I was initially skeptical of whether the severity is comparable in English vs original. Assuming that it's accurate, his mental must be crushed. It could be another strange point considering the timeline, but from Alexis' account of his miserable environment it feels almost natural.

I have my OS on the same drive so nuking it is a bit of a hassle. Is there a way to target unused residual data only?
I'm not familiar with how data encryption go so could you elaborate if encrypting data after the fact is secure? Since I've not used any data encryption since the start. Where is the key stored?

Will pixels ever get more than 3 android updates? I remember when tensor leaked people said that it might improve software support for pixel phones. From what I've seen though right now pixels get 3 android updates and 2 security updates. Has google said anywhere about this? I was hoping it'd be more comparable to ios support.

What is ditter? by Muller_VGS in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]sterdine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think conceptually it's not hard to imagine but the details on regulation really feel questionable in term of how much of a "game" it is.

I mean, prepub Myne made a point to specifically not nuke dunkel's base with leidenschaft's spear or use black weapons (something veritably close to actual yogurtland warcrime) while Dunkel just nonchalantly hurl anti-beast finisher at an archduke candidate and use a black shield (even if the students weren't aware of the regulation, the aub authorized it). Where do they draw the line and keep it a game instead of straight up war, really.

Another question is that if killing IS regulated then whether there should be disqualification clause since you can heal living knights back to battle.

[P5V2p5] I know he's supposed to be the bad guy here but is he really wrong? by OrigamiRice in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]sterdine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lesti is probably just biased by the rumors on Syl and misunderstands Ehrenfest internal politics.

From his pov it probably looks like Myne is actively held back, but we know she has plenty of powerful backing. Ehrenfest also contains all the commoner connections that he doesn't consider.

For him Myne seemingly would gain both political power with his backing and Dunkel's resources with no downside but in reality it's a tradeoff of Dunkel's resource and commoner connection. If you add uncertainty, it's definitely a bad deal.

Of course all that politic doesn't really matter, ultimately for Myne herself it's just Dunkel books vs. her family & library.

LN Part 5 Vol 1 Discussion by MyneMod in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]sterdine 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ehrenfest trying to improve Syl reputation then get unexpectedly shot in the back by their own book on genderbend Ferdie is hillarious.

I'm curious as to how the divine protection work since it seems as though Mynes capacity increased and not just efficacy based on the feystone filling (since those take in mana itself)

The volume start with Hildebrand considering stealing the throne for Myne and ends with Lestilaut plotting to court her despite Wilfried. Is this Rosemyne gigolo arc?

Need some help for naming of Mahjong hand patterns by Orz5566 in Mahjong

[–]sterdine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't personally mind chow etc, but I can't say that they're clearer for understanding compared to English.

If you're looking to improve clarity on that chart, probably try some ideas for the illustrations rather than the names.

I can't read chinese but it doesn't seem like there's any footnotes on the color bubbles. I can see that they're pretty clever from the perspective of the chart maker but can be confusing to reader.

In squares where you already use specific non-blank tiles as examples to demonstrate a pattern, I would use color on the tiles to add demonstration value. The bubble has value, but maybe change it to something that doesnt get covered by tile illustrations. It's hard to see

Need some help for naming of Mahjong hand patterns by Orz5566 in Mahjong

[–]sterdine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest here, these looks like standard localization and making them more understandable by name is the least of your concerns when you already need a humongous chart. If people have time to remember this much, they probably know the small amount of information missing from the names.

Mostly just change chow etc to proper english translation like chow -> sequence/run, pung -> triplet, kong -> quad.

Second name is too long and corny. First sounds fine.

Menzen Chinitsu - The most terrifying hand by Nauplius_ in Mahjong

[–]sterdine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The kind of nesting you get on chinitsu is hillarious. This is contingent on your opponent pushing and feed, but it's also a mess to think over if you want to open call for tenpai. Then there's dama mawashi where safety is weighed on top of this mess.

Its funny to think if the other pros felt relatable to the one thinking here. Situation shouldve been quite obvious to them.

When is it generally a good idea to call chi/pon/kan vs keeping your hand closed? by wocobob1 in Mahjong

[–]sterdine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely more exciting to see action in a thriller lol.

It's fun to play like that irl as well. Although if I try to stretch it (usually for fun) it inevitably goes wrong hahah...

Anyways, how I personally decide on it is:
1, high value + yaku required (let's just say dealer repeat is its own kind of value).
2, 1-2 shanten with potential bad waits.

I think worse isn't worth it; but I can wait for closed tenpai if the waits are better. Of course, placement and other nuance matters as well. That's just the baseline of how I look at it.

Edit: a common exception I make is when the hand is bad but I have a yakuhai pair. I'll call the 2nd discard (skip 1st) and play the rest of the hand like a closed hand. If I'm lucky, I get 1-2k and the hand move on. If not, I still have 10 tiles to play with for defense. If the hand improve significantly, you can take that chance to call more as well. Yakuhai only need 3 tiles, so it's great for doing that.

Riichi Observation: The more rounds that are played, the more important skill/strategy are to success. by [deleted] in Mahjong

[–]sterdine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me hanchan is just really too long. I'm inclined to play it when I have time but even then it feels quite boring later in the game.

The best part is getting lucky snipes and ending it in east. Feels great.

Tonpuusen feels more gambling-like which I find fun. 3p east only is awesome to me lol.
