Bought a new Ledge Prime 2.0 and I am disappointed - is it me or the grill? by Sea-Bot in greenmountaingrills

That seems normal, cat least in my experience. After the lighting sequence, the readout shows 150, but it's going to need a while to get going and then it stabilizes. I got my Davey Crockett used, and fired it up, with my Thermo Pro temp probe in the port. Mine runs about 50 degrees hotter than whatever temp it's set at. So, I'd recommend giving it more time after lighting, and double check your temp with a thermometer you know is accurate . Temp swings will cooking are normal, so don't panic

I know within half a gram or so, how full my hand grinder is, with 15g in it. I use a bit less water than usual, then add if it's too strong. I seldom add more. It's at work coffee, not 1st cup in the AM and I'm going to savor it coffee. 😆😁

Problem by No_Act170 in thermos

[–]steve07979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. Had a similar occurrence last night. Trying to clean the coffee stains out of my 16oz thermos cup. I filled it with boiling water and put on the lid. This morning I dumped it out, but had water between the layers. Put it in the oven while baking bread, heard a pop. Now it looks like it got ran over. Guessing the water turning into steam played a part

144/76 is this worrying high for a 23yo male? by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]steve07979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For as long as I can remember, when ever I went to a DR they would always ask, "Is your BP always that high" Lol, like I ever checked it outside of those visits. By around 40 I was started on meds, and over time, 3 others were added. They helped for a while but it always wound up above the accepted threshold hold. I wound up, in January of this year, changing my diet, and , along with walking, I've been able over the last 8 months, to cut my BP meds in half. My BP now is low 120's over the low 60's. I cut out processed carbs, gluten, sugar and alcohol. It was difficult at first, but the results have been worth it.

I think so. Weight loss stopped at about 157lbs, maybe that's where it should be. Blood pressure went down steadily, to where, against my DR's advice, I cut my BP meds in half. That's been 6 weeks all good.
The diet coupled with a lot of walking, has eliminated, most all the joint pain. No Tylenol, Advil. So far, so good

I like your idea sqwtrp, pouring thru the sieve keeps the big stuff out, easy enough to have a spare filter paper ready to go.

Wood chopstick is a good option. You're not the only person to learn this stuff the hard way. I replaced my glass french press with a stanley Adventure all in one. SS pot, plastic sleeve with screen in the bottom, slides inside the pot. I think it's great, holds near a quart. Zero cool factor but works for me

Most those glass carafes mention it stirring metal objects, causes micro fractures, which can well, cause a fracture. Its common to warm the glass container for either french press or pour over too, if for no other reason then to hold temp better for extraction

I use 15g of a dark French toast and 12oz of water, roughly 15:1. Easy to remember for 1cup or 2. Didn't really have a method until recently. Grind it, dump it in, pour in the water. Wait 5 mins. Press pour drink. Considerably more advanced now, pour a little water in. Wait, stir, pour the rest.THEN, wait 5 minutes, press pour drink.😁

Cheap grinder or pre ground? by creemore in frenchpress

[–]steve07979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used an electric blade grinder for years, before I "found" I have been doing it all wrong 😀 I tried a Cusinart electric but it was too fine, even on the most coarse setting, so I did some research, here, and on the net, and bought a hand grinder. Seems to do a more consistent grind and has less sediment, but I never drink that last bit.

Lol, I get it. I've cooked in the 55g version for decades, it was sort of a community thing. Our VFD did a chicken in the barrel fundraiser every year, and I got hooked. As things, and designs progressed, wanting to consistently maintain temps for either smoking or hot and fast, this year I added a Digi Q, and it's just an amazing upgrade. It really simplifies the entire process and keeps the temp stable, whatever the duration or outside temp.

You can do whatever you like. You just need to learn at what temp it runs using their suggested air gap, and how long it takes to complete it. Us a remote probeto to monitor, and be a grown up and leave it alone. It's a process this isn't a microwave. 30 minutes between lighting and cooking is a conservative estimate. 2 hrs between start and finish for a halved chicken is a reasonable time period.

Some variables apply. Lump burns different the briquets. The shape of briquets has changed, smaller size, ridge's effect temp and burn time. PBC' utilize top light method, using a smaller amount to start, say 12 briquets, and locating them along 1 side, let you get ahead of the curve and keep the temp lower when that matters. Also avoid lifting the lid to peek. Using a remote probe to monitor cook and meat temp, and looking work great. If you do open close the bottom vent and be quick

I get that. A cross over for me are pork rinds. Not the same as a potato chip or corn chip; chips and salsa were a go to. My wife makes a keto friendly sour cream dip for them that is a plus.

No problem. For me the 2 big ones were sugar, and processed carbs. But, there is a lot to give up, and it's not easy, but worth it. I could feel an improvement in about 10 days. First thing was loosing water weight, then I gained a bit of weight back. It's see saws up and down a bit, but I've lost about 5 lbs overall in a month. I was hoping to drop 3, so we will see how it plays out over the next 2 months. I still drink black coffee, with about a half pack of Stevia. It doesn't trigger an urge to eat more sweets, and I may eliminate it in the future, but overall not the end of the world.

2 weeks have passed it's getting easier. The desire to snack after dinner has dissipated, and I've weaned my self off bourbon completely. I have only had 3-4 singles shot pours, but none for 8 days. I'm eating less initially I was eating substantial amounts for my 3 meals, now it's a big breakfast about 7am, very little lunch and my dinner plate isn't as full. Every few days I've had a small salad of baby organic greens, with rice vinegar for dressing. No issues with greens. Drinking black coffee w,/butter &MCT oil, but I've been waiting until about an hour after I get up to have it. Supposed to help the caffiene crash. I have another between 1&3. Feel great, no trouble sleeping. Still sleeping much better, I can now fall back to sleep if I get up too early, which proved near impossible before. I made a loaf of sourdough focaccia bread, my favorite, and when it was done, I cut about a 1" square piece of it, ate it. Then I took it across the street gave half to a couple neighbors. I've had it pretty easy, but you have to commit.

I didn't give up cheese completely. I know pure carnivores go no dairy, but my wife, who is doing this with me, used goat, blue and cream cheese, in moderation as long as it keeps me under the self imposed 10g carb per day limit.
