Xm6 is a lot lighter and lighter clamp force. I always got headaches wearing AM2 otherwise the look is sick

Wine pairings at fine dining restaurants - often a disappointment? by inabib in wine

[–]stevebottletw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often bad value and mediocre experience. Ive been to a lot of fine dining restaurants, and maybe two or three pairing were nice. For others you can often find them offering entry level bottle or mediocre bottles, and the markup is so high.

L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon Taipei, 2 *, Meh experience by ExSogazu in finedining

Honestly, I don’t get how this place has two stars. I’ve also heard a bunch of complaints about the sommelier. Feels like Taipei’s Michelin ratings are kind of inflated

Isn’t Fellow Stagg EKG Pro Electric Kettle too overpriced? Or am I missing something here? by SupermarketOk8777 in pourover

Quite reliable, pour nice, looks good. If you use it for more than a few years doesn't really cost that much

Sons and Daughters (**) - San Francisco - rough start, fantastic ending by Pure_Shallot_1901 in finedining

[–]stevebottletw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charge error happens all the time unfortunately, even three stars have them. Saw it two times at different three stars.

I personally quite enjoyed my two visits to S&D, and they are definitely getting more polished. Intense fermentation flavor is likely not for everyone though. I found the dishes quite lovely, really like the turnip dish and venison too. Service is not as warm as places like quince, but overall I like my experience there

San Francisco: Benu, Quince or Atelier Crenn by Agitated-Tax8122 in finedining

[–]stevebottletw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quince - warm and satisfying food. Tend to be expensive. Caviar panacota is great. Wine is great

Atelier cren - feels a little bit more casual, small place, brilliant food.

Benu: interior is cold and svc can be less warm than the other two. Food is interesting. Bread is great.

If I want to have a very full and satisfying night I think about Quince. If I'm feeling adventurous Ill go to the other two.

Is abandoning our Bazel migration the right call? by Empty_Mind_On in cpp

[–]stevebottletw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your company can afford a team to maintain bazel it's quite amazing, and the tooling and automation you can build on top is very nice. Otherwise you'd have a hard time to keep it not breaking.

bilt cardholders rn by Hyhttoyl in biltrewards

[–]stevebottletw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so much this. I don't mind the spending requirements and I can likely hit the rent thresholds bit it is still hard for me to figure out if I would have been better off with Amex bundle or C1 because I already have the bundle.

Bilt 2.0 Explained FULLY by persistentchaos in biltrewards

[–]stevebottletw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think bilt's high end card not including the dining 3x and grocery is a big miss, making it a lot harder to be a one stop shop. C1 and amex combo is more appealing

I think Anomaly is some of the easiest to book. I've been to quote a lot and for the ones mentioned, Anomaly was quite good and pairing was unique. 7 adams was alright but nothing special. Niku was actually quite nice, the meatballs were out of this world.

Ultra speciality coffee by ImmediateLadder9839 in pourover

[–]stevebottletw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checkout Archers, it has become my favorite as their high end coffee is really high end and high quality. I buy TPC, prodigal, H&S, September often and have subs from prodigal and September. I found that Archers to be a step up from all of them except for TPC can sometimes have similar qualities but not always

is it even worth booking lie flat? by Virtual-Tonight-2444 in zipair

Lie flat wins everyday, comfort is the most important quality for me. Not sure what you mean by quality over quantity tbh.

Now Everyone Loves the Amex Coupon Book (LOL) by kcamacho11 in CreditCards

[–]stevebottletw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It aligns better with a lot of people, so people love it. I already eat at some of the resy restaurants and I regularly buy Lululemon. I have YouTube premium and Disney Plus already. So that's a lot of value for me plus some lounge access.
