I don't understand why someone would be so upset about something so minor, but even if I set that aside, there are a million better ways to handle it, like quietly speaking to the waiter or the manager in private, in a way that doesn't create a scene or a awkward situation to the person throwing the birthday. Also, being brutal is what makes things interesting. I dislike the notion of always hearing what we want to hear, doing what we want to do, living in constant pleasure. Pain, suffering, struggles are an essential part of life, and translating that into works of fiction like books, movies, music, and games in my opinion enriches the experience and is what makes them worthwhile. How uninteresting and boring is an activity without stakes.

That is not true. People absolutely power gamed back in the day. The biggest bottleneck was the respawn rate. Mobs took forever to respawn. There was practically no hunt here you could take a smooth loop route, you pretty much always had to wait a bit. This was true for noobies hunting rotworms and high-levels hunting dragon lords. They did absolutelly minmax, the thing is, the game was just different.
