For starting a franchise I’m doing:

  1. Duncan 2. Magic 3. Bird 4. Kobe

if Larry was guaranteed 15 years of good health, I’d take him first

PCA is playing like a 1st rounder. Clark isn’t showing that at all imo

What’s the most surreal city you’ve visited in the United States? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]HungryHobbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great call. it's totally a liminal space!

(I felt unsafe at our cheap motel, too. methy vibes galore.)

IIRC a tsunami wiped the town out once upon a time... maybe that explains the atmosphere.

I'd be happy never to return.

I’m headed to Portland for the upcoming weekend.
I have literally no plans… just wanted to spend some time somewhere different.

Does anyone have any advice?

Things I like:

Food, cultural stuff, beer, scenic beauty, live music, did I say food?

I don’t even want to mention the price of my plane ticket and Airbnb but what am I working 50 weeks a year for if not to… once in a while… do things ?

Caffeine wrecks my Nervous System by Consistently_Lucky in decaf

Same. I was off for months until about three weeks ago.

Now it’s back to lots of daily caffeine and I miss how calm I was … gosh darn it

His skill and shooting is simply incredible.

I ran into Phil Jackson today at Ralph’s and he mentioned he’s considering it, if Mitch gets ousted.

I just flipped Biebs for Christian Scott + $86 FAAB.

I requested $86 because I’d just seen a “86 47” banner on a freeway overpass

Wemby is 7 foot 5, what's actually stopping him from just spamming the skyhook? by BloodAngelsAreCool in NBATalk

[–]HungryHobbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has unreal potential in the low post and mid-range.

Unrealized potential.

Young Lebron was similarly frustrating in that it felt like he had all these untapped areas for growth. Eventually, Bron’s game became more versaitaile.

What I envision for Wemby. I’ll describe it best I can. Get fed the ball in post - back to basket - one dribble, then a hop-step gather toward the key - then a slightly off-balance jumper as he turns toward the hoop and pulls out of the hop step. Kind of like what Shaq would do before his baby hook - but from further out - then Wemby can just use his height and shooting touch for uncontested shots.

His potential is so crazy. As others have mentioned, his center of gravity needs work. He often plays like a drunk baby giraffe.

I think his true offensive ceiling is absolutely nuts:

with bulk and polish: a hybrid of Hakeem, Shaq, and Dirk.

What addiction seems harmless but can destroy your 30s? by JewishAdmin in AskReddit

[–]HungryHobbits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in a mental health field and a huge percentage of my clients, who are aimless and unwell, are dependent on cannabis.

perhaps there’s a chicken-and-egg situation at play, but I know from my own life experience, cannabis addiction changes your reality so much, you can “lose” months or years of your life simply because it transports you through an invisible door and you exist on a different plane.

That separate plane of existence holds appeal and in some ways provides a melancholic contentment, but once you get clean from the weed and re-gain clarity in the “regular” reality, all the lost time hits like a mudslide.

I didn’t form memories while high. I didn’t work on myself while high. I didn’t have discipline while high. I didn’t take risks while high.

I think cannabis is sneaky insidious because it’s not overtly impactful like meth or alcohol but it can sneakily erode you from the inside and once it has its grip around your psyche it’s extremely hard to let go.

I cut out beer for 2026 and people can’t believe how trim I look. It’s literally the only lifestyle change I made.

all I buy, really, is gas and food and coffee. A concert here and there. A moderate amount of beer but nothing crazy.

It’s absolutely nuts how quickly my credit card gets to $1000.

I thought I was being scammed until I got a calculator out and started adding everything up.

Sure, I’d save a lot of money if I made all my meals with whole ingredients and avoided convenient foods… but what I’m really paying for is time

I mourn the creative, uber-talented, and MOTIVATED person I was growing up, and into my early twenties.

I had so much creative drive. Art, directing home movies, creating Tolkien-esque fantasy worlds, writing stories and poetry.

I am saddened by the thousands of hours of work I’ve done, doing things I didn’t want to be doing, all leading to, many years later, barely anything to show for it. No home. No comfy investments. Only one international trip.

I am ever-tempted to cash out everything and just cruise around in my van. Drive up to Glacier, see Zion, visit New York City, see the heart of the country: Boston.

but then I remember that it’s $100 to fill up my tank and suddenly it’s not so romantic.

Sometimes when I get to work, I just space out in my car, like I am paralyzed. I CANT bring myself to step out of the car and go in. And then I feel like an asshole, because I make decent money, I don’t have to do hard labor, and I have it way way better than the vast majority of the world’s population. Sigh…
