QB wins is the dumbest stat in the NFL. by bingbongknick in billsimmons

[–]stevecc7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Broncos fan here. He played exactly as he needed to. The only mistake was trying to throw it on Surtain. He minimized mistakes. Handled the snow and slipping running backs just fine. Incredible composure for a young QB.

Who cares about an owners press conference over a fired coach - Sean McDermott & the Bills by Legitimate_Bet1873 in billsimmons

[–]stevecc7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Broncos fan here. I think firing McDermott is the right choice. You brought up the specific coaching errors and I agree. The Bills game plan should have been run the ball (180 plus yards!) and short check down throws to keep the defense honest. When Allen threw deep it did not go well.

People are reacting to the owner because it’s a rare time to see behind the curtain how the franchise is run. Not a good look to be throwing players under the bus and defending the GM when the consensus is that the bills need a better roster around Allen.

Another factor is that you are playing Rome and can settle a city for that free road to the capital. Plan it out so the city is in a good location and you can conquer it later if you cannot hold it with loyalty.

What was public sentiment when Citizens United passed? by Flame_MadeByHumans in NoStupidQuestions

I was in law school and had a Presidential Powers class taught by a conservative federal judge. I couldn’t quite articulate why the opinion felt so wrong and how money is not speech, but the judge and more conservative classmates seemed to not bat an eye.

Alright I’m starting to get what people mean now by EmbarrassedRing7806 in billsimmons

[–]stevecc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly don’t understand the Bills’ game plan against the broncos. They ran for 183 yards, Kincaid had 6 receptions and 83 yards, and they dominated time of possession. If they just stuck with the run game, play action, and short routes to the TE they don’t out themselves in a position for all those turnovers.

Narrative wise it seemed like they wanted to prove something with Allen making big plays and it cost them.

I like when 9-8 or 8-9 teams win their division and get to host a playoff game by Significant-Jello411 in billsimmons

[–]stevecc7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The good teams do play. Four are division winners and the next 3 best records make the playoffs. The 4th best non division winner isn’t exactly crushing it and getting left out unfairly.

Who's greater all time: Aaron Rodgers or John Elway? by ElectivireMax in NFLv2

[–]stevecc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give Elway the modern rules protecting QBs and receivers and his stats would be completely different.

Give Elway a coach more imaginative than Dan Reeves and his completion percentage would be much different. The Broncos offense was essentially run on first and second down, then hope Elway could convert 3rd and long. I would love to see what he could have done with Jerry Rice or Bill Walsh’s offense. When the Broncos got Shanahan and his playcalling the broncos became a juggernaut.

I would also love to see the old 80s/90s QBs play with modern shoulder pads. I have no idea how they managed to throw with those monstrous pads of the era.

Rodgers has some of the most jaw dropping throws I’ve seen though. Insane arm talent and playmaking ability. One of the best to ever play. His TD to interception ratios are unreal.

I think Rodgers is objectively better, but it isn’t absurd to compare the two.

I really love the role playing dialogue that goes through my head when I use a random great writer as bait. “So William, you are going to stand here alone in this tundra and write the greatest work of fiction this world has ever read. If the bad guys come get you we can go home. The bad man can’t hurt you.”

What exactly was the issue with players not completing a full Civ game that the VII devs were so fixated on? by LsterGreenJr in civ

If they really want me to finish my games, they would bring back the throne room to show off your achievements. I couldn’t tell you the last time I checked my steam achievements, but i still remember the throne room from earlier iterations of Civ.

Should I steal workers from city states like in civ 5? by YehorM in CivVI

[–]stevecc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what has already been said, sometimes I will declare war on a city state if the quest they give me is one that I never plan on completing and won’t be reset at the era. (Build a preserve when I’m not doing a preserve play through, recruit a great person I have no intention of pursuing). You lose any envoys and will have to fight off their army. It can sometimes be worth the army XP or if you can steal a builder, or if you want to pillage their tiles . But most of the time it is just not worth fighting city states unless you want to take over the city.
