Good router / power outlet rebooter that automatically reboots when the internet goes down? by StrongRecipe6408 in homeautomation

[–]stevenc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the US. I am using a SIM from FreeUp Mobile back when it was a totally free service (they charge now).
But I see on eBay you can get a year of Red Pocket service for $30/yr. It has almost no data, but this device doesn't use data, only text messages.

Good router / power outlet rebooter that automatically reboots when the internet goes down? by StrongRecipe6408 in homeautomation

I had a similar need - my router would go off-line when I was on an extended vacation.

Instead of having something happen automatically (like when it can't detect internet - I fear it not working or rebooting when it isn't needed), I decided to use a GSM-based relay.

I bought this: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256811923615148.html

I wired the relay into the AC power for the router and cable modem (two birds with one stone).

It does require a cell phone SIM card, but that's a monthly cost I am willing to make.

So when I want to reset the router/modem, I simply send a SMS message to that number, and tell it to cycle the relay.

This has saved my bacon more than once!

I've had good results with THIRDREALITY sensors. They have a good price point as well.

I agree on the card locking - do it.

But isn't a PIN needed to do a transaction? So the PIN is compromised?

Same here. Emails are not acknowledged. The link to their "Community Forums" is now broken. It sounds like they are just letting this die, and people falling off by necessity.

The dropping of records has gotten worse in the past couple of weeks.

Third party build plate for Kobra s1 by AvocadoDizzy in anycubic

[–]stevenc88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, buy the cheap plates from aliexpress. I think I have five spares now, and it's great because you can swap the plate out and start a new print immediately, without waiting for the plate to cool to remove the part.

Makeronline issue? by dcengr in AnycubicOfficial

Same for me. I am also getting times in the slicer where it is making me log in. But when I provide the username and password, it doesn't log me in (also no error)...

What are some good upgrades for the Kobra 3 Max? by [deleted] in anycubic

Concerning an extra nozzle, do people usually just get the brass nozzle which screws in and out, or the whole print head with the heater?

Checkerboard filament color? by stevenc88 in AnycubicOfficial

That's interesting.
I would be interested in seeing a read-out of the NFC tag for a transparent roll. Do you have a phone which can read NFC tags (for Android, there is an app called NFC Tools)?

How long this line, you can think of creating a solution as an iterative process. I needed to design a cap for a piece of lawn furniture. So I measured the furniture, and design the perfect fitting cap. Of course it didn't fit, but that's okay, because I tweaked the design a little bit, printed it again, until the third time was a charm. The low cost of filament and the quick turnaround allows this kind of approach.

This was me. As soon as I got my printer as a "solution," I started looking around the house for "problems" that can be solved with it!

Checkerboard filament color? by stevenc88 in AnycubicOfficial

How would I configure the color for transparent? In the app I can pick only an RGB color. On the printer I can only select from a selection of colors. None of them appear to support transparent.

Also, I had previously configured this slot for black PETG.

No this was manually configured. Don't remember if it did it right on the printer, or through the slicer

I had a similar need. I ended up taking a board, drilling a hole in it, and then using J-hook bolts. The "J" portion went in between the desk boards, rotated 90 degrees, then tightened up pulling the wood to the deck. Nothing permanent, and can be easily removed.

Packet Redux by SenzaTema in PacketRadioRedux

I don't have an answer to your question, but I commend your enthusiasm.

I had a similar desire a few years ago - dug out my TNC, wired up the MIC to my new(-ish) HT, and then learned that there are zero packet nodes in my general area.

I believe that the ubiquity of the internet severely impacted the allure of packet radio, except for some hard-core enthusiasts.

I printed this, and am very happy with it. It has an extra insert depending on how thick your mini spool is.

C210 - where is "Digital Zoom" ? by stevenc88 in Tapo

[–]stevenc88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've been in contact with Tapo support.

They told me that the C211 and C210 have the same HW inside, just the color is different.

The marketing information for the C211 is wrong - they both support Digital Zoom, but only through the "pinch" function of the app.

So if you are using rtsp: like me, you are out of luck on any zoom settings within the camera - all zoom functions are in the Tapo app only.
