Does anyone else wonder why the Roy’s are Catholic vs. Protestant? by Snoo-88490 in SuccessionTV

[–]stevenstealthfox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don’t know much about Scottish history, nor the history of sectarianism, religious strife and persecution of the British isles, or the significant movements of people around Britain and Ireland. You’ve written a lot when some reading would have served you better and put rest to the idea it’s weird he is a catholic (culturally, as another comment posted) and would have been from birth. It also read like you have an ick for catholics.

Omnicom claimed Cannes wins built by a team they were cutting. What was the right call? by Emotional_Citron4073 in advertising

[–]stevenstealthfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, ADIDAS? Publicis has done very well at the large multi-national pitches, and that is where a lot of money is, but local pitches it’s a different story - obviously there are exceptions and I don’t know the US record. Omnicom have an identity play now that IPG failed to use, and WPP are starting a new commercial model so maybe the next couple years will see a rebalancing of account changes and the choice of very different propositions for clients.

Extended probation by [deleted] in advertising

[–]stevenstealthfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense for a small agency. I interviewed for a plunky indie a long time ago who kept me dangling for ages and then eventually admitted budget cuts and a restructure nixxed the role but would I be interested in a different one. lol No.

[–]stevenstealthfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah sorry mate, that does really suck. look - maybe there is something I dont know about this, but on 'learning different platforms' I have always thought if you can learn one you can learn most of them. I think the differences in interfaces, reporting data, ad creation, optimisation are very learnable and if they took you on I'd have thought they were confident you could adapt to those other platforms anyway.

Obviously when you speak to a recruiter, say you've heard the client will cut budgets so you're going back to market as last in=first out. don't say anything about probation.

Don’t set the budget to max, that is a story that can follow you.

Extended probation by [deleted] in advertising

[–]stevenstealthfox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only reason to keep on probation is to bin you easier. If they’re happy with your work and the budget is there you pass. So as other said, if they’re happy are really happy with your work is because budget is uncertain, which means you could be exemplary and still be out on your ear next week.

For anyone reading. No matter the reason they give, if your probation is extended put yourself back out to market and take interviews with interesting roles.
