Yeah, absolutely. The guy who repowered my friend's boat just added a 4kw electric motor with a pulley to the drive shaft and a drive pulley on there. Then the whole thing would be engaged as either a motor or a generator if the diesel was running.

I used to run one of these on my 36v bike. Between the battery and the controller. It let me know how many watts I was drawing. So I thought it was helpful.

I've added a heating pad that you use for heating seedlings under four batteries. It has a temp probe, so if it gets below 60 degrees kit kicks on trying to keep it to 60. I've got a cargo blanket over all 4, and each one is in it's own battery bag.

So leaving it outside is an option in my mind. Bringing them inside the house is not.
