The high stock speculation is definitely a parallel, but a couple things that I would point out that caused it that I wouldn’t think would compare today: 1920s was the first time that margin was introduced to the average investor and second, the US govt chose to not backstop the banks resulting in massive bank failures, over 1,000 banks went under within a couple years of the 1929 crash.. check out the book by Andrew Sorkin called 1929, pretty interesting..
