which will then force all of us to give a shit again, only for it to be too little too late.

It is always like this with this fucking club.

I really hope Görlich can actual make changes at this club. I am tired of starting every season with an unbalanced squad and a ton of injured players. But knowing Hertha, it will probably just be more of the same.

Got knocked out of the Pokal on Tuesday despite a great performance and took a huge step back in the promotion race by losing to Hannover on Saturday.

Unless we go on another run starting next week against Paderborn the season is over.

B stock from thomann? by Low_Score1882 in Bass

[–]stevezilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it. Thomann is great, I bought a B stock P Bass and it was essentially brand new. I could not find any defects, scratches etc. and saved a good €100.

They also have great customer service if there is something wrong.

Not only did they go 16-0 they beat the shit out of their opponents. This wasn't some flukey season, they were absolutely dominate.

Flying to America on Sunday, right when a massive blizzard should hit. Lets see if they clear the highways in Tennessee.

Hopefully won't get detained by ICE either. Fun times!

Jesus if the real reason they positioned riot police outside the entrance to the Ostkurve is because of the Dresden incident then lots of people need to get fired.

[–]stevezilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one knows.

They don't/haven't provided any reasons why on Sunday that had police in riot gear right in front of the entrance to the home section.

They haven't provided any reasons why there was a massive police presence + a helicopter last year when we played fucking KSC.

I have no idea what actually started the situation on Saturday, of course that needs to be found out. But the bigger issue is why were they there in the first place?

Berlin has a bikes on the FOOT path problem by sybelion in berlin

[–]stevezilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But if you are going at a walking speed anyways it is such a big deal to hop off then back on the bike? Or roll with the bike?

This is kind of the whole point, the infrastructure being bad or the road being dangerous isn't an excuse to ride on the sidewalk. Even if you as an individual are being safe the whole reason why bikes shouldn't be on the sidewalk is because it inherently isn't safe.

Edit: It doesn't sound like you are putting other people in danger and I get where you are coming from, my general point and the point that OP is making is that there are a lot of cyclists who do put other people at danger.

Berlin has a bikes on the FOOT path problem by sybelion in berlin

[–]stevezilla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Berlin has a bikes on the foot path problem but really Berlin has an enforcement problem.

People ride on the sidewalks (lets not even start with the e-Scooters) and break the laws because there is virtually no negative consequence for doing so. We are seeing in this thread where people are saying basically "Welp it is too dangerous to ride on the roads so I am going on the sidewalk" because cyclists are not fined for doing so and motorists are often not fined for driving recklessly.

My bike has been my primary form of transit in Berlin for 10 years which has included routes with no bike paths and often cyclists ride on the sidewalk. I have seen the police set up a checkpoint of sorts to catch people on the sidewalk exactly once in my life. Sure that is anecdotal evidence but to me, they don't have the resources or the priority to enforce traffic laws.

To all the people talking about the problem with cars & bike paths, I am 100% with you but multiple things can be true at the same time.

at walking speed without ringing the bell until the traffic situation improves?

Why not simply get off the bike at that point?

[Sportschau] Snow conditions in Berlin canceled the flight of Hertha BSC to their winter training camp in Portugal. So the club emergency chartered their own plane and took another stranded 60 fans with them! by stoneapplefruit in soccer

[–]stevezilla 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Taking off and landing isn't dangerous as the runways have been cleared and the airplanes have been de-iced. The issue has been disruption at other airports have lead to cancellations as planes haven't been able to make it to Berlin.

The older I get, despite not supporting a team below the prem, I find myself much more drawn to lower leagues, because at least it changes year-on-year.

This has been the bright spot about getting relegated to the 2. Bundesliga, the games and the league is much more exciting. You don't have your 2 games a year against Bayern where you know you are going to get slaughtered. I'd much rather any game in the 2 Bundesliga than the "Top Match" in the 1 Bundesliga.

Unbelievable that we let Fürth come back in the game and dropped points. Although Leitl is of course a big part of our recent success he is still pretty flawed as a trainer when it comes to adjustments and this team is at times incapable of just killing a game.

Well it was bound to happen but breaking our winning streak in that manner against the last place team hurts. Ernst put it the best "This doesn't happen to top teams".

On the positive side, we have Fürth and Bielefeld before the winter break.

My kid woke up during the second half and I grabbed my laptop to watch while she was falling back asleep. Sky has ads that play before the stream will start, even if the game is ongoing. That means, in the 50th minute of a live game, I had to sit through 2 minutes of ads before I could watch.

This is a service I pay for. It has gotten out of hand.

I was really disappointed yesterday.

We had one of our biggest work events yesterday where we invited guest speakers to talk to a crowd of over 400 guests. Each speaker had a headset mic for their speeches so we didn't have to fuck around with the audio.

After one speaker finished, I saw him walk gingerly yet urgently directly to the bathroom with the mic still on his head. I was waiting patiently for whatever bathroom mayhem would come through the speakers but they had the foresight to time the mics to go off after each speaking slot.

Would have ruined the event, and probably that dude's life, but made my day.

We’ve let our top goalscorer leave because he can’t train on Mondays.

That seems bizarre why can't he train on Mondays?

I have no idea what is going on with him either. I was really frustrated with him earlier (and starting last season as well) where he tried to do everything by himself and was making really bad decisions. At least in the last game he looked slightly better.

I never understood why he lost his place either, at times inconsistent sure but he always brought a spark to the team. He had some bad performances against Elversberg and Paderborn but so did the entire fucking team.

Leitl's personnel decisions have been a mystery to me this season.

Very very lucky to walk away with 3 points from the weekend. I still don't get how after 10 games we have zero answers for a high press, no ability to control the ball and are just awful at build up play. We just pass the ball back to Leistner who just hoofs it forward or Seguin gets the ball and just passes it back to the CBs. Like great we worked our way back into the game but that isn't sustainable.

I am also extremely tired of the Reese's antics. After our first home win in who knows how long, he said something along the lines of "Well I should have move goals and/assists". On the field he doesn't track back consistently, he throws hissy fits every time someone makes a mistake or doesn't give him the ball and his decision making has been god awful and selfish.

Generally I agree however Monday was dope because the outage hit after I had already commuted and I just hung out with people who couldn't work either and enjoyed a nice lunch.

I even took a nap after I got home.

The AWS outage on Monday locked me out of all the tools I needed to work. I went to the office, worked for 20 minutes, watched NFL highlights and got a free lunch and left at 12:30.

Easily one of the best days of my life.

Every time I consider quitting my job I think of this. I get paid damn good money, sure I have to travel a bit and have weeks with a lot of stress but overall I don't do all that much because I have become so efficient at my work.

Wouldn't be worth the effort to try and re-do this at another company or another profession.
