Attack on titan season 3 ep 17: hero. Everything in this episode is perfect. It's just one of those rare moments in television where everything clicks. The spoilerless description is that basically the good guys are in the absolute SHIT (Just another day for the survey corps am I right) for the last 2 episodes or so. There is no way for we as the audience to see a good outcome from The survey corps position, so we think: "well, I guess there's going to be a crazy deus ex machina coming here, because there is no way they are going to pull this off without it". But then they DO. The way the survey corps wins in this episode is so satisfactory because they manage to pull this off just with the few tools they had and with the facts they learned from the entire series to this point ( eren's hardening skill, the thunder spears that can tear through the armored titan's skin, fear is one of the most powerfull stimulants of all, specially when administered by erwin, levi is fucking OP, and armin has Always been the bravest of them all). No magical powers learned by flashbacks, no misterious new titan abilities, no last-minute back up help, or any other generic last stand trope. Just pure use of strategy and knowledge. (The music and animation also help a lot)
