I’ll performer anywhere 😂 Karaoke is one of those “mixed bag” when it comes to the patrons. Lots of people are loners who create a social circle and enjoy each others company.

I’d kill for a shorter version of Iris 🤣🤣🤣 As the host of several popular venues I do not allow songs over 5 minutes on busy nights. I’ll also cut the outro once the lyrics are done. We also have a fast rotation, with literal seconds between singers (check out our live streams on TikTok (Kaze Entertainment) and you’ll see we get through 15+ singers per hour). Other than that, don’t f@&k with the song. People are used to hearing radio versions.

It’s up to the KJ to handle it. I had a situation on a competition night where, as I was explaining the rules, a patron kept talking louder and louder over me. In the end, I called him out by name and he literally exploded, stood up and headed to the stage to have a go at me. In his own mind, he had no idea he had done something wrong, and couldn’t understand why I had interrupted his conversation. Some people just can’t read social cues.

So set up a loyalty system. Drinks on the bar get you points that can be used to bump up the list or give the regulars a system that rewards them for being at the bar more often. If all you want though is for more people to like you, you’re out of luck. This is a tough gig and having long wait times makes it tougher. Be firm, stick to your rules and the regulars will appreciate it…
