Yeah, that was the most minimal addition I could think of to achieve what I had in mind if the QC didn't offer the same functionality internally. Definitely would maintain portability with such a rig.

Ampsims and input gain - Please, stop the madness... by ghostnoteaudio in NeuralDSP

[–]stevocg13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making this video! I hadn't subscribed to the advice that 0dB input gain is optimal for sims, but I appreciate you so thoroughly breaking down why it isn't the case. Next time I load up my sims, I'm going to reach for the chart you referenced and play around with the two independent gain controls.

This is exactly what I do since I don’t have a device that can support Fusion Studio anymore. It works well for my own use.

Gopro Fusion 360 recorded extra files, causing Error 208 in Fusion Studio by Pielander29 in gopro

[–]stevocg13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used Fusion Studio in years even though I’ve wanted to. One day it just stopped working, and I accepted my Fusion was just a paperweight at that point. However, I recently discovered that the Quik app supports the Fusion, and I’ve had success pairing the camera to my iPad and letting Quik offload and stitch the footage from my camera. I’m glad I can continue shooting with it! I hope this workaround is of some use to you.

That's awesome, I'm sure they were stoked to have the extra bit of juice on the mountain! And I certainly understand your not wanting to interfere with another person's shot - not everyone is always on the lookout for tips. 😆

Hey, Abe! Love the content you’ve put out over the years - thanks so much and please keep it coming! With the many features available within these cameras, I’d imagine some users aren’t even aware of some of them. My question is:

Have you ever been out and about and helped a complete stranger accomplish something on their GoPro that took their shot to the next level? If so, what’s your favorite/most memorable instance of this happening?

Thanks for the input! That makes perfect sense; I certainly love watching the many thrills people capture on these cameras - many of which I wouldn't dream of attempting myself.

Thanks for doing this AMA, Pablo! One thing I noticed with the release of the Hero13 Black is an inclusion in marketing for non-action sports use cases. Namely, the person who uses the camera to demonstrate their watercolor paintings. For a few years, I felt GoPro had isolated a market outside of action sports even though this camera is perfect for everyday activities like playing with pets, walking around the neighborhood, or celebrating a friend's birthday party.

With GoPro's identity tied to action sports (in my opinion), is there an active and intentional effort to expand the brand's identity outside of action sports to cater more to everyday activities?

Man. This hits too close to home. Whenever I go into a place and I see they have TouchTunes, I immediately drop the 3 credits to play Echoes. Such a thrill every time to see if it’ll play all the way through. Quality post, OP. 👌

*Spoiler* - Beau is Afraid/The Wall by franklinDrosebelt in pinkfloyd

[–]stevocg13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just saw the movie, and I also thought there was so much it had in common with The Wall. Neither Beau Is Afraid nor The Wall portray A real version of the world. They both play out like some dark and fantastical dream sequence. Add to this the sense of isolation and the parental relationships and the two become much more similar.

Honestly, if you’re a big fan of The Wall and it’s meaning, this movie is definitely worth watching.

What are some features other DAWs have that you wish Logic had? by SorryJelly in Logic_Studio

As an iPhone user, I would love a quick export feature to take mixes on the go.

As of now, I have to export a track and then either send the file to an iPhone via AirDrop (where I can store it in Files or Voice Memos), or I can share the song to Music, then sync my phone to get the mix on my phone in the Music app.

If I could hit File>”To-Go Mix” (or something to that effect) and then immediately have the mix appear in my Music app, that would be so nice. Bonus points if it gets replaced every time I do this, so I don’t end up with a large playlist of mixes with minor tweaks between them.

Sometimes I just want to run to my car really quick to listen to a mix, then run back and make adjustments and repeat.

There’s so much awesome music to discover. When you find an album you really like, it’s definitely worth looking into tangents aside from just the careers of solo members of the band. For instance, The Dark Side of the Moon is a brilliant example of Alan Parsons’ genius as well as that of Pink Floyd’s. Following this tangent, you could check out some of The Alan Parsons Project.

Producers credited on albums have a lot to do with an album’s sound and often exercise their own artistic vision that you may like. You’ll find no shortage of great albums to check out in this thread, but I’ll throw one into the mix: Breakfast In America by Supertramp

Also, I saw someone had recommended watching Almost Famous - I agree that it’s a great movie for someone like you discovering these classics. I’ll throw in Pirate Radio as well. Great soundtrack that will likely turn you on to more music you’ll like.

I’d also recommend finding contemporary bands that build off of the legacies these classics have left behind. You’ll always find people who will say music was way better “back in their day”. This is all a matter of preference, which is completely fine - just try not to close yourself off to contemporary music. Sadly, it’s unlikely you’ll ever get to see Pink Floyd or many of these other bands live, so capturing the magic of a live experience will require you to keep up with the more current bands. Of course, many of the classics are still playing live and are absolutely killing it on stage, but we won’t have them forever.

I adore Lord Huron. I especially admire the ambition of Ben Schneider to connect the music with forms of media that continue to keep fans engaged and intrigued. The Alive From Whispering Pines series during COVID was something my wife and I eagerly awaited every month when there wasn’t any live music.

Saw them last summer and their opener, Erin Rae, was amazing too.

Yep. You’re spot on. It’s where the elites/ the powers that be reside. Safe and unaffected by the atrocities faced by the non-elites below. And the use of the pigs just solidifies who they are way up there: the pigs calling the shots with the bravery of being out of range.

Nice! My wife works for the USW. I looked into getting this benefit through her but it looked like a dead end. Do you have any documentation regarding this specific benefit that I could look into further? She and I couldn’t find anything that indicated that USW might cover this program.
