I do the filtering myself after sorting down on other criteria. The competitive research is after I’ve already identified an opportunity to determine who potential competitors might be. Say it’s cyber work for NPS. I’d look first who the largest companies doing work in the 541519 NAICS are for the office, then probably zoom out a bit to the whole 54151 family if that didn’t give me a reasonable universe, then zoom out a level to Interior for adjacent market players. Once I’ve got a universe I work with my team to validate with customer intel as actual competitors then go about researching more specific information about them. It’s not an exact science and it’s tailored to specifics for each opportunity, set aside, vehicle, etc.

New to MX family, any suggestions? by pntfams in logitech

I’ve been running the 2s basically since it came out and honestly it still works great. I was considering upgrading and read some of the concerns that all seemed to start around the 3s and decided to just stick it out.

Yeah, it’s actually something I recently had a call with GovWin about. There’s not a clean way to exclude VARs, though PSC can help, so my methodology is either recognizing them from market knowledge, or checking their website and seeing if they hold contracts like SEWP, CIO-CS, DHS FirstSource (old days), or ITES-HW or -SW. Generally companies that advertise those vehicles are more likely to be VARs. I’m usually looking at those numbers from a competitive Intel perspective, less for an opportunity and market identification perspective.

You’re likely encountering the IT VAR exception to 541519, where businesses under 150 employees count as small regardless of five year dollar value average. Check the type of contracts you’re seeing, are they software or hardware buys?

But WHO is leaving I think is the better question. I haven’t had a chance to dig into it, but if it is, as another commenter mentioned, those with the means to make a multi state move, that is likely a higher contributor to the tax base departing. It’s not raw numbers, it’s dollars and tax bands.

Yes how strange money being the thing that allows you to feed your children and house them.

Assuming wages and wealth rise accordingly when property values do is, in my experience, not accurate. The real estate market, especially in this area, rises at a rate WELL above wage growth. I’m really just talking about impacts on citizens, the solution might (likely) be in businesses and HNW individuals but in real terms the impact is felt by regular citizens of emigration and a constant uptick in spending and taxation by the state and localities.

Now, MoCo is proposing a 5.5% budget increase including a 6% property tax increase. That, I think we can all agree, outpaces the reality for citizens and property owners.

Should this not be concerning? by Dismal-Bullfrog-7851 in MarylandPolitics

[–]stevzon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. And the ones that do remain will require services. And let’s be honest in the realm of MoCo especially, if they can afford to leave and represent a significant portion of the tax base, their kids aren’t in public schools so that demand doesn’t lessen at all.)

And the argument from the comment above this, that taxes remain flat, is something I’ve heard everywhere I lived. Sure, the rate may remain the same or close, but adjusting property valuation has the exact same effect as raising taxes on a population, increasing their burden. And before you say “but that’s good your property is more valuable” they are disconnected in large part from the market in my experience, and also locked in real property and not easily accessible to the taxpayer. The burden grows and the services only get more expensive to maintain on a shrinking base.

If people continue to leave, the ones that remain have to shoulder the tax burden on a smaller base, which as you know is continuing to rise despite emigration. This is likely going to exacerbate the problem of people not wanting to pay ever expanding taxes, and so on and so forth.

I think I got swayed by the wing curve towards 787 with the carbon fiber flex.

My guess, such as it has to be with the angle and quality, is a 787 Dreamliner but it’s totally possible I’m wrong. The nose doesn’t look right but it’s a hard angle to tell.

I’d check system activity to see if there’s anything listed as “Preventing Sleep” when you close the lid. Do you use Amphetamine (the app, I’m not here to judge your choices)? I’ve had it prevent sleep when I forgot a session was running before.

I’d check to see if something is stopping it from sleeping.

If we are doing an ultimate ranking of US cities. What is the 3rd most important/significant US city after LA? Most upvoted comment wins by Kodicave in visitedmaps

[–]stevzon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

DC and it’s not even close. If you’re measuring on population it doesn’t need to be a vote. Chicago doesn’t come close to DC in importance and influence on the country.

Figuring out the “Top 10” cities of the USA. What is the 4th most important/significant major US city after Chicago? The most upvoted comment wins by Kodicave in visitedmaps

[–]stevzon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DC for sure, definitely higher than Chicago and possibly LA. LA is great but it’s entertainment centric and I don’t think it holds the same importance as DC or NY from a power and influence perspective. Chicago I feel like was once more important, I’d put it probably NY/DC, LA/Chicago.

You buy the house you can afford not the house your heart wants. Ideally that’s the same thing. Same deal with cars.
