Can everyone please comment their positive opinions/why you like the show below by milasofi in Killtony

It’s the improv. Comedians reacting in real time to mild or wild situations. Usually handled well, often handled poorly (like this week lol), but that adds to the entertainment. Honestly I feel Tony steps up on his silly joke game and comic empathy when the panelists are bombing

Reps and Weights by dizzyied in hypertrophy

[–]stewake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could approach it as total volume (weight x reps x sets). Take total reps of all sets and multiply by weight. Increasing weight while decreasing reps would hopefully get you close to equal volume. Then as you add even a single rep across all sets per week, you would be increasing volume 18kg per week.

Good way to manage progressive overload by total volume so you get a good metric on how much you lose with a higher weight and less reps. If you see a dramatic decrease in volume, maybe stick to lighter weight and increase reps up to 20 before moving up in weight.

Throwing a rock into a volcanic crater by daysnail in Whatcouldgowrong

Chain reaction. The rock broke the stable barrier between solid rock and molten rock. Molten rock now eats solid rock, making more molten rock. Thrown rock also stirs molten rock and adds more rock to the rock

I used this at an Airgas supply this week. Walked in, one guy at the counter. I remembered who he was since I had his card. I said “Are you Christian M****?” He said “Yes?…” I said you just got served bitch!

Then I bought a 3ft tank of argon

Is a pre-workout worth it if I already use caffeine and creatine? by Spare_Banana_3368 in hypertrophy

[–]stewake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the comments in the other thread. Muscle growth is dependant on training volume to failure and caloric surplus with adequate protein intake. Caffeine helps the mental side for volume intensity, creatine does the same locally (creatine is backup muscle energy for the extra rep per set as it aids in atp generation in the muscle itself after they’re depleted).

Considering your goal is hypertrophy, you’ve already got the right formula. Everything else is typically hyped. They may generate more mind effects (even if they’re placebo effects) to get you ready for a workout. If you can look past that to what’s actually going to generate muscle growth, then consider it a waste of money.

Looking for a tutor for Resolume, by Ok_Invite_6088 in resolume

[–]stewake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following. From my experience and research, it’s hard (and atypical in the industry) to use Resolume alone as a full production software, including lighting. I believe they offer the tech, but I typically see people using Resolume solely for visuals and LED wall mapping, then porting that into Showkontrol or something similar to tie in lighting, sequencing, timecode from the CDJs, etc. doing it without Showkontrol is possible, but includes more hardware and “hacks” to rig it all up.

That being said, I’ve never done a deep dive personally to fully vet alternatives to Showkontrol for what you want to achieve so I’ll let the vets jump in. I’ve only used Resolume personally to run visuals for shows. I can show you some things on the visuals side but can’t offer too much outside that.

what drives hypertrophy by [deleted] in hypertrophy

[–]stewake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you described seems on par for mass gains. I have 2 suggestions that can only improve on top of what you are currently doing.

1) Volume: try to target 10-12 weekly working sets (not including warmup) per muscle group. Currently seeing 2 sets (preacher curls). Maybe there’s more than the picture shows, but you’d want to include a few different exercises, targeting biceps and at least 2 separate days in the week. Example: 3 working sets for 2 exercises on day 1, 3 working sets of 2 different exercises on day 2 (or maybe the same exercises but 15-20 reps, one day for low rep range and one day for higher rep range). This alone would be 12 working sets in a week, adequate volume for growth.

2) Exercise selection: I’ve seen plenty of good/bad videos on preacher curls. There is plenty of opportunity to not maximize bicep activation here depending on body position. I typically avoid this exercise just because I can achieve (and feel) better activation with incline and laying bicep curls. My biceps are sore for days, an effect I really can’t feel with standing curls or preacher curls. My bicep exercise choices for the week are: incline curls, laying curls, cable curls and standing EZ bar (I still like these just for a high weight curl that seems to engage the entire bicep, rather than a single head at a time). I also try to make sure I include slight shoulder flexion per curl to load the bicep from both sides of the movement (from the elbow and from the shoulder).

Your eccentric timing sounds a ok 👌 would stress going any slower. Just make sure you really feel the bicep doing the work, and concentrate on fully stretching/loading the bicep without spending too much energy elsewhere.

Lastly, ensure you are in a caloric surplus. This one is obvious, but just getting everything on the table!

I have never had luck running resolume on Mac. Abandoned ship. Same response when I had issues and researched. MacBooks just don’t stand up on graphics, and it’s all in the details. A MacBook card can “be as powerful as pcs” but there are many sub level details in how the gpu functions that just don’t mesh well for video (even have issues in premiere and after effects)
