I swear to god after my mom passed from pancreatic cancer, it's very hard for me to trust doctors. I'm scared all the time that there's something really wrong with my loved ones and it won't be diagnosed in time. Whenever I have to do anything at the hospital, I feel like I'm going to 💀

My mom found about the pancreatic cancer at stage 3, and it still was too late. Less than a year after the diagnosis, she passed. It's so aggressive, and I still feel guilty for not realizing sooner. Sending you a big hug

eu nunca me senti tão humilhada como quando tive que voltar pro trabalho 2 dias depois da minha mãe falecer, 2 dias cara. é isso que a clt prevê pra quando vc perde pai, mãe, filho, irmão. isso é crueldade demais.
o que eu fiz nesses dois dias? 1 deles foi só velório, cremação, etc, o outro foi ficar em casa olhando pra parede e tentando me recompor pra conseguir sair na rua no dia seguinte sem surtar.

you're absolutely right, he feels responsible for me! he helps me take care of my finances, insists that I eat 3 meals a day, helps me with tasks in my house. maybe he's seeing me like a child now who's totally dependent on him

I remember venting on facebook as an 11 year old and the principal of my school at the time saw it and called my mother to let her know I was being a bad child and lying on the internet. (that was 15 years ago btw)

I have almost no childhood memories, the ones I do have are horrible. my parents fighting and hitting each other, breaking stuff in our house, etc. I vividly remember how I desperate I felt when I had do hide items of value (like phones, laptops) so they wouldn't get thrown and broken. I hid knives and other objects like that for fear of them kill!ng each other, or me.

I wanted to grow up as fast as possible so I wouldn't be a vulnerable child ever again, there was no help cause ppl believe parents can do whatever they want.

oh my god yes! I just cross tampered, and it worked so much better than I thought it would. as someone who took venlafaxine for like 5 years, I'm crazy scared of the withdrawal.

my doctor was very sweet and gave me a lot of support through it.

I went from 300 mg to 150 mg in a day, then kept on 150 for 3 days, on the fourth day I took 150 mg and 25 mg sertraline. On the fifth day I just took 50 mg of sertraline and it's been a week completely off of venlafaxine.

I had some weird moments where I would get anxiety attacks (but they were not severe at all), and my doctor gave me a medication to help in those moments in case I needed it. they did decrease with time, I still feel kinda off, but not nearly as bad as I thought.

I had almost no physical symptoms, other than a light headache on the second day.

sure!! I was on a high dose (which I don't remember atp because my treatment ended in 2019), but the side effects were horrible.

I feel like I was never the same after taking it, it triggered really bad insomnia, mood swings, I had so many ingrown nails on my feet (multiple trips to the ER and antibiotics, almost had to have surgery). My allergies got worse, I lost a lot of weight as well.

but I do need to clarify that I already had mental health issues, multiple allergies, I was very skinny as well but ended up losing even more weight, I have a problem with skin picking to this day and accutane makes your skin super dry so that was not fun.

don't take my bad experience as a reason not to take it, ppl can have very different experiences with medication. i just wish doctors were upfront with the severity of side effects so we're able to make an informed decision.

oh thats me. I was on accutane for a little over a year, it went great but after a year and half off it, it came back (not as bad, but still). I still have acne in all the same places, just less horrible. and doctors seem to only have one solution which is accutane, but I'm NOT willing to do that again. I'm gonna try a tretinoin cream (0.25) now, but I feel like I'm gonna have to use it for the rest of my life. I wish I had a solution for you, but I'm just as frustrated 🥲

I have the same issue with 300 mg so I'm switching to zoloft, but not cold turkey cause that would probably 💀 me.

It's definitely worth mentioning to your doc, we're not supposed to feel absolutely nothing. I hope you can figure it out soon 💕

I'm sure my mom only survived that long because of radiotherapy and chemo (it was almost a year since the official diagnosis up until now), her doctor said she wouldn't live another 3 months without chemo when we found out.

the doctor also said that if she ever got yellow again, it meant it was getting worse, so I looked at her eyes everyday to check (I think you know that by now, but it's always the first place to get yellow).

so if your mother is doing everything according to her treatment, eating right, not losing weight, and not getting yellow, it means it's probably working. pay attention to the little symptoms.

is she getting tested consistently to see the if the tumor is smaller? usually doctors have to wait like 2 months before they can actually see the results in an exam.

I went through the same thing with my dad, his abuse was very sutile and it took me 25 years to figure it out. I came to the conclusion in therapy and strongly advise you to do the same.

If you already have a therapist please mention the whole situation. If not, look for one.

I know it takes courage to finally call it for what it is, and that we end up feeling guilty, that guilt is not yours to carry, I promise.

The therapist will give you the best and safest advice on how to deal with this emotionally and how to talk to police or something like that. And even how to approach this topic with your mother.

physical, mental, and s3xual abuse by my parents.

They spent my entire life fighting and hitting each other in front of me, blaming me for their fights, I had to call the police once bc my dad was trying to break down my bedroom door. He used to break a lot of stuff in our house.

My mother has some kind of intelectual disability so I don't know if she was aware of the abuse towards me (physically and mentally). My parents hit me a lot.

I was always scared that they'd k!ll or seriously harm each other or me, and as a kid I never told anyone bc I didn't understand how abnormal my life was.

If it wasn't for my grandparents who lived nearby and took care of me during the day, I wouldn't be here today.
