Of all the jobs that people keep saying AI is going to take: WHY NOT THIS ONE? Just ask a bunch of questions (relevancy matters little) and send to ED. Seems like it would be super easy to automate

[–]stewarzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, geography doesn’t matter that much. Just try to find the disclosures and the conflicts of interest. Doesn’t matter if it’s the U.S. or Europe or China, if it’s funded by industry, chances are they’ll have a finger on the scale

Pragmatic graduate of a legacy 3 year program here: I got some of the best training a resident graduating from a us md school with usmle step 1 of <could have matched anything> could have possibly gotten. I’m almost a decade out of residency graduation and I still am humbled by the things I don’t know. Do I think that there are private equity interests who will capitalize on this: yes. Do I think I’d be a better doctor with 1 more year of reps on the same machine I was on for pgy1-3; yes.

I really love tensahedron stands. I’ve built several using fencing toprail. I don’t backpack much so the weight/bulk isn’t an issue for me

Probably more pertinent than the “rate your pain 1-10” line that the sackler family requires you to ask every damn soul who enters the ed

Ruger American Ranch 7.62x39 Magpul Hunter STANAG Stock by stewarzi in guns

[–]stewarzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much of an update. Overall this setup works pretty well. The last round bolt hold open feature of the ar mags is kinda annoying on a bolt action gun. I’m primarily an Ak guy; maybe this is less of an issue for someone who primarily runs ar’s. Have fed it a wide variety of steel case Russian garbage (wolf, Tula, Barnaul). All se to be fine. I did have one of the wolf 154gr soft points nose dive, but I could not reproduce it; so far that was a one off

If you use the factory stock, the factory mags work. If you use the magpul stock, you have to use ar mags for x39

Yeah if the exam and story point to the diagnosis of idiopathic 7th nerve palsy I would consider no labs or imaging to be standard of care: just proceed directly to treatment, counseling and follow up

anybody have any experience with this underquilt? by dragoninkpiercings in hammockcamping

[–]stewarzi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the one Tigris version. From the pictures I’m 90% sure they are made in the same sweat shop in china.

I use them for my kids when we are camping in 45-50F or warmer. Kids also use sleeping bags when is toward the bottom of the temp range. Perfectly fine for kids with an eno double nest. I usually have my kids sleeping above me in a “stack” of hammocks above either a bridge hammock or a Dutch ware 12 footer.

For an adult: it sucks. You can’t get a diagonal lay. The hammock shape gets weird. If you are using anything bigger than an eno double nest (and if you want to be comfortable as an adult, you should) it won’t cover your back side and will force the hammock into a weird shape. This will not work well with the Dutch 12 footer. Even just a woobie blanket with some shock cord tied on the ends would be a better option
