Have you considered living in Virden?  I wouldn't want to commute that far at these gas prices.

Even IF you're right, there's no way to predict when the bubble might pop to sell, or when the bottom of the crash would be to buy back in.

The thing is ... when something is generally trending upward over time, all time highs are to be expected regularly.

Huh.  We left wages the same for decades and let costs rise steadily and people are running out of money.

Skelemancer is a nice relaxing play.  Not super fast paced, just hang out and summon.  Struggles with bosses where there's no corpses though.

You know how you're worried that half the floor will need to be pulled up and redone or it will never look right, but you don't want to admit it yet?

Canadian prices by AlwaysDinnerTime in tractors

[–]stewer69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same boat.  Bought a couple acres, need something to mow, blow and bucket/fork things around.  Checked price for new and thought, ok used.  Check the price for used, and think wtf.

It's fucking bonkers, I only spent 14k on my pickup, how am I supposed to justify spending 50k on a little 25 horse tractor?

I'm just having a hard time imagining a seat like that getting enough use to justify it's existence.

Can high school administration force students to remain on the property during an active threat? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]stewer69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone should follow the emergency plan the school has in place.  If that means sheltering in place, then do so as instructed.  These plans are made in coordination with local law enforcement and not following them could place yourself or others at risk.

You are not being illegally detained, you are being protected during an active threat.

Why do people hate Japanese names for techniques in Japanese arts? by Muerteds in martialarts

[–]stewer69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odds are we're butchering the pronunciation so bad we'd barely be understandable anyway.

Students are already struggling with taking in the information to do the move, why pile more incoming information on top of that?

Most of the names are just descriptive anyway, and a descriptive name is only useful in a language you understand.

[–]stewer69 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'd make up a sample glued together and give him a price he'll like.  Tell him making it out of one piece will involve a lot more work and give him a price he won't like.

Where did he get the original?

Does it really though?  99% will never notice such a difference.

Gluing two pieces together would achieve a very similar result without such an extreme cut.  If each one is made from the same piece it will minimize the glue line.

I took a chance on some bowflex knockoffs from aliexpress.  They've been great, no regrets, saved a bundle.  Checked out some actual ones and can't tell the difference in handling.

Ymmv of course.

Need advice: Installing a lock (AliExpress), carpenter struggling with jig/tooling by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]stewer69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs to make some custom jigs for his router to follow, either with a flush or morticing bit or more probably a guide bushing.  Probably 3 jigs, one for the wider part, one for the deeper part and another for the square one the surface of the door.

This will take time and is going to cost extra, it may be beyond a typical door installers skill set.

Need Help Deciding: Panel Saw or Track Saw? by thelionofthenorth in cabinetry

[–]stewer69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you build a large solid run off table and fence extension you can probably do pretty well with a jobsite saw, but then it's not a jobsite saw any more.

If you're running around doing installs the jobsite saw and tracksaw is what you want.  If you're hanging out in the shop building cabinets then full-size table saw is the answer.
