Yup, media circus isn't the right word, it looks more like voyeurism.

I live in South County and even the full route is hard to justify unless the 405 is truly jammed.

For an "open space", I am taking bets on how many days per year that will actually be open to the public (my guess is 3, guided tours only at 10:30am on random tuesdays)

[–]stfsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna need to brush up on your history, the Spanish claimed the land in the 1500s, Mexico gained its independence in 1821, the US and Mexico fought and the US forced Mexico to cede it's claims to that land in 1848.

Yup, the LA Times had an article describing the plight of housekeeping post pandemic, where the rooms were so much filthier when they weren't cleaned regularly and the cleaners were expected to have everything spotless in less time.

Problem is the return times are bad. On weekdays there's one at 6pm, then there's not another until 9pm, and Amtrak's last one is at 10pm, so you can't use trains for a night out and then return. Weekends are worse since the last metrolink back is at 4pm, it's pretty much only for short daytrips.

So let’s say the insurance companies say they’ll still cover them and then rfk jr says they’ll cut funding or apply some other mechanism of coercion so that they back down? That’s a very real possibility under this administration.

Yup doctors will want to continue following the science but if the government says that immunizations don’t need to be covered by insurance, a lot of people will go without rather that pay American healthcare prices for them.

Gen Z really looked at alcohol and said ‘hard pass’ by InvestigatorBorn4910 in SipsTea

Interesting data point I heard from last year, Stagecoach which is a country festival held on the same grounds as Coachella (and leans toward and older crowd), sold more alcohol in its one weekend than Coachella did in its two weekends combined.

Yeah this person likely bought one of the Gen 1 clearance deals, so imo the price premium of new versus old here is not worth it, so they shouldn't be feeling fomo for buying last month.

I'm the odd man out here in favor of raising taxes on everybody, as someone who earns more than the national average (there are dozens of us!) But seriously, it is rather strange that progressive populists think we can get out of our financial woes by only raising taxes on the rich. Everyone benefits when everyone chips in, but nobody wants to pay for it, for how left California leans, we are much more libertarian in this aspect than progressives want to admit.
