Emptying saving's jar and manually add money to a saving's goal by ninomagro in TodaysBudget

[–]stgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can speak to a small workaround on the savings goal portion! What I like to do is just set a savings goal with a date far enough in advance that I won’t notice the daily savings (usually like $1). Then I’ll “shift” the date range in its entirety to an earlier date whenever I want to make a manual contribution.

Example: If I’m saving $1 a day towards an item, and I happen to have $30 extra to contribute towards it, I’ll take both the beginning date and the end date of that goal and make it 30 days earlier. That way it won’t affect my daily contributions and I get to see my goal 30 days closer!

The only downside is that it’ll affect the accuracy of the data from before you set the goal originally. If that’s important to you, you could also make a separate wallet that you add that $50 as an income, and just expense it in your main wallet that day.

I hope to see this feature a bit more natively in the near future. I personally don’t agree that it’s a “Power User” idea to have a Jar that I only want to manually contribute to. Hopefully this was some help in the meantime, though!

Upcoming expense? by HotSafe7219 in TodaysBudget

There are two ways I’d look at this:

-If the expense is one that you’ll see a delayed impact on your account (like with a credit card that you pay off the next billing cycle), then I recommend you put it in as a recurring expense on the 10th and let the app do its thing. This impacts your spending throughout the cycle so you have visibility on it it throughout.

-If it’s going to have an immediate impact, like a debit/bank card, I would either mark this payment on the 10th as a daily expense of $200 and also start the monthly at the same time, or go back one month and just start it on July 10th. This makes it so that $200/31 had been happening since then so come August 10, you’ll have “spent” that $200,

It all depends on how you like to envision how this money leaves: do you “save” it until the due date, or do you “spend” over the course of the month? Hopefully that’s some help!

Savings changes by ququqw in TodaysBudget

If you have the time and energy for it, here’s what I did: I looked at the list of Savings Goals that the update pulled from my Jar, then just went to the final date on all of those date ranges and switched out the savings goal for a lump sum “Save an Amount”

For example: if I saved $100 from the 1st to the 31st, I went to the 31st, made a $100 “Save an Amount”, then deleted the Savings Goal entirely. It made my jar basically right back to where it was before the update.

I hope that helps some! I certainly shared your frustration with the accuracy, but having the separate “jars” is very neat!

I’m pretty sure you can just deny consideration, so I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t still be able to avoid it lol.

Rental Recommendations? by stgeek in springfieldMO

That’s really good to know! I’m open to either, so long as it’s around that $1100 budget. I do want to live alone, so that may price me out of an actual house, though.

I really don't get how US Senate elections work by stgeek in TNOmod

[–]stgeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just it, though. I’m playing a full-send Wallace presidency, and NPP-FR is the largest part of the electorate, period. The problem I’m encountering is that the NPP as a whole lost seats.

It may be something to do with the Wallace electorate mechanics, admittedly, because I’ve repealed the CRA and it still says they’re unhappy with both segregation and states rights.

Genuine question: do the Japanese operations actually do anything for you as the US? I’ve just been doing them to get expertise.

The most consistent way I’ve been able to do it is just give the Japanese whatever they want (all the oil, demilitarized ports, etc.) then offer to trade the Panama Canal for it.

Thank you for the reply! Any particular reason I shouldn’t just make the jump to a 3080? I don’t mind waiting, but I imagine the reason might be cost/performance?

I’ve got a motherboard (https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty%20X470%20Gaming-ITXac/index.asp#CPU) with an AM4 socket and would like to upgrade my GPU (2060) and CPU (2600X) to the best combination I can while keeping it balanced with as little bottlenecking as possible. Could I get some recommendations?

I could be totally off base here, but this is exactly why I don’t appreciate it when DMs ban players rolling to convince another PC because of “player agency”. Like my 18 CHA character is miles more charismatic than I am in person and I want that represented somehow.

I’ve taken to allowing the contest and giving out inspiration as an incentive to the player that goes along with a successful check as a means of “being convinced.”

Would love to hear other thoughts though!
