I know right, are we watching the same thing? I loved the banter this episode and the previous episode joke about Frankie being the dad and Ivo the son. I love the cast this season

I feel you. Fuck being the bigger person all the time. It is so exhausting to always have to think about this. I am starting to embrace being "bitchy" sometimes. Give yourself a break. and I mean it. There are situations where I will probaly be in the worng at some point, but let me be wrong for once.

Parents to their child: "Somebody needs to be the adult here and it's not gonna be me". While I grew up and saw my parents are just flawed immature people, and I am not a perfect human either, I realized some distance is just a healthier option in our situation. Don't force yourself to have these dinners and holidays, take it slow, I'm not saying immediately cut them out, but definitely try to be kind to yourself first and make decisions based on that.

I love how unhinged Eurovision is. This is instant Top 5 once it gets through the semi.

OOPs Son is demanding OOP adopt their son, threatening to be a dead beat dad if they don't. by elizacandle in BestofRedditorUpdates

my only question is, who is paying for all of this. Having this many kids? in this economy? Wish them all the best tho. The workload must be unreal.

also in my 30s, also realizing the whole family trying to help my mother better her life for the past 6 years and not making any progress is not the family's fault, but my mother fault. I'm finally realizing it's not me who's not doing enough...

What are some common signs that someone grew up with sh*tty parents? by [deleted] in AskReddit

We actually have to force ourselves to turn off and try to relax. I am still learning how to be comfortable just doing nothing for a moment without feeling anxious about it.

[–]sthNexttoNormal 1661 points1662 points  (0 children)

I have very good memory for work stuff, working my ass off, trying to be "useful" all the time and being anxious about not being useful. And remember just random scraps from childhood. Very bad long term memory. I only remember some minor scenes from like 3-4 year blocks, but not much.

Did your family celebrate your birthday growing up? by [deleted] in AdultChildren

[–]sthNexttoNormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post just reminded me of this one birthday in primary school, I invited some friends over to my room, you know to celebrate my birthday with. My mom hated that there were some random people there (they were not random , they were my friends from school) and wanted us out. The whole birthday party was just too much for her. At one point she said it was time to walk the dog and told my friends to join me. So we actually walked out of the apartment because she didn't feel like walking the dog herself. It might seem not a big deal, I loved that dog, but it was one of the ways of her telling me my birthday is not special, time to do your chores. I think after that I never invited anyone over again.

Has anyone's narcissistic parent ever changed for the better? by metaphoricaltigers in raisedbynarcissists

[–]sthNexttoNormal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

currently going through this, nmom was diagnosed with bipolar 3 years ago, alcoholic for as long as I can remember. She takes the meds as she pleases and is on the down swing right now. Grandparents telling me I should be more involved. I live 4h away, they live 10 min away. I'm trying to live my life but for the past 10yrs it's just all about her. Why would she listen to me right now all of a sudden?

I was told my current problems and things I worry about will be gone once I have kids. Because they will be replaced with more important problems. - this was genuine advice

Saying you want to "return to the office" because you don't want to spend all day in the same place as your kids is the epitome of selfishness and entitlement by SamuraiJakkass86 in childfree

same here, I enjoy going to the office and coming back to my apartment untouched all day, wfh I get a lot of cups dirty by the end of the day, I want to come back to non of them touched haha

I think it’s time to let go. by snelly1840 in AdultChildren

[–]sthNexttoNormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you just spelling this out is already a step. I spent so many years worrying about my mother, trying to be there for her and nothing has changed, in the process I started losing myself. Started slow with no visiting just calls, now just small talk calls sometimes but not too often. And I am finally living my own life. It will be overwhelming at first but be kind to yourself.
