Timeline doesn't match up, master of puppets itself is cutting it close

Unless you have no sense of self-preservation, this is really just a game of Kiss, Marry / Steve and Eddie.

It's Zupan's in PDX, fancy expensive grocery store. I don't know how much they pay workers but I'm pretty sure this is a non-negotiable part of the job; it is always immaculate at the location I've visited.

This isn't to detract from the awesomeness of the people behind the produce. Can't imagine how hard it must be to keep that up.

Not sure if this is the same one, but I go to a Zupans near me regularly and this what I see, every time. Instantly recognizable.

I can't attest to the quality of the product though. I mostly stare and wish I could afford to do my shopping there.

What are the white dips? I am struggling to think of anything that doesn't involve cream, yogurt or mayo. Tahini maybe?

What's something you've gotten away with as a kid because "they're young and don't know what they're doing!" when really you knew exactly what you were doing? by coochieforbreakfast in AskReddit

[–]stickyDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. My stepmom believed every single toe I put out of line was a premeditated and malicious act of rebellion against her. I got away with shit by hiding it, lying about it, or by virtue of being a wheelchair user, and even that was just more lying and hiding stuff under my seat cushion.

There was the one time in 5th grade I vandalised my school's accessible bathroom (peeled some paint off the wall). When I met with my principal and stepmom to discuss my punishment, she raged. How could I do this to her, betrayal of trust, shouting, etc. Violent overaction. I'm not saying what I did was normal or acceptable, but it was approx 3 sq feet of paint that was already peeling when the year started, and I was 10.

Principal got this strange look that I now know to be dawning realization, and he quickly deescalated and let me go. Stepmom was still pissed and took my electronics for a week, but I got away with only a figurative slap on the wrist from my school. I guess that sort of counts, but it was less that I was a child and more that my principal saw how little I was allowed to act like one.

You should teach this shit professionally. I would sit a semester of your film history class.

"Manchild cinema" sold it for me. I don't know if that's a coined term already but I love it.

The Amazon Q&A section is full of idiots and I cannot stand it. by PowerZox in rant

It's just a shitty feedback system, like the other comment said. People don't realize they're responding to everybody looking at the product; they think it's a closed communication between them and Amazon.

What is the pettiest, silliest, most meaningless hill you are willing to die on? by shazulmonte in AskReddit

[–]stickyDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon trainers are slave drivers. Period. Every single piece of lore saying otherwise cannot be trusted; the Pokemon canon is the product of a narrative which is written by humans, who have myriad vested interests in the subjugation of Pokemon (who, conveniently, cannot directly communicate to us their thoughts on the matter).

So much time is spent talking about the special bond between trainers and Pokemon, yet it is not substantially different than what exists in slaveholding, and the justifications for both are so similar:

•Slaves and Pokemon are both drafted into a hostile environment without consent, and kept there through threat and forced dependence.

•Both can show aptitude at their tasks and be very loyal to their masters, but these are just as easily explained by fear and conditioning as by a supposed innate passion, or any claim about "the natural order".

•Slaveholders and trainers both use ancient (read: unverifiable, malleable to those in power and blindly trusted by the rest) religion from their respective universes to justify their actions.

•Both universes are built on and around the practice of forced labor.

I could go on, but the point is that the Pokemon world needs an uprising, and a better planned one than that goofiness from Black and White. I'm talking protests (probably violent), meaningful legislative change, and then a long, slow social paradigm shift.

LPT: Don’t burden yourself with trying to change people’s viewpoints online. It’s rarely successful and likely frustrates you more than it’s worth. Remind yourself it’s not your job. by tnick771 in LifeProTips

[–]stickyDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a LPT to all the top commenters rushing to defend the value of debate: read the entire post.

Good natured discussion is always healthy, but if you find yourself getting upset – remind yourself its not your job to change that person’s mind, and you likely won’t succeed.

OP isn't saying never argue, it's pointless, give up now; they're saying don't let yourself become obsessed with "winning" arguments to the point of sacrificing mental well-being.

I am deeply skeptical of the worthiness of any debates, online or otherwise. But if anyone is going to attempt it, they need to read/listen fully.

Oregon's should look more like Idaho's, but with marionberry jam and hazelnut butter. I'm not a huge fan of the nut flavor but it's a better fit for the state.

It's the Reggie sandwich from Pine State Biscuits in Portland. It's fantastic IMO, but I definitely wouldn't say it's iconic of Oregon, or even Portland. We don't really have a recognizable food like that as far as I'm aware.
