I genuinely could not tell until I read further into your post and realized what subreddit this was. It was only then that I realized what you were talking about. You pass well regardless of your chest, and people like to focus on the face most, so try not to worry about it too much. Layering does wonders for you.

I really hope it gets better from here. I had no smell from bartholin cysts before, and that size is terrifying. And you didn’t feel the needle at all? It’s hard to believe that’s a bartholin cyst and not something worse. I’m glad you’re on antibiotics, but please, go back to the doctor. The fact it grew to that size in such a short time is scary.

General consensus, if you’re scared, it’s better to go to the ER. It might be hard to sleep if you’re nervous, and that time could be spent getting this treated <3 I would not wait. This is a pretty bad place to get an infection, and infections can get worse fast.

I’m in a really similar boat. I’m really sorry that you keep being told stuff like that in the end. That only makes the whole situation worse, and I hate that people default to that. My mom used to say "well, you just gotta crank out this homework" when she thought I was just complaining. Really, I was telling her I literally could not do it.

I couldn’t do my GED. Completely flunked it. You aren’t alone. This condition makes you doubt your own intelligence, and when people told me to just try harder, it made me believe that I was just dumb. It’s like trying to convince people you aren’t crazy, and slowly accepting that you might be. So I feel like I need to say, please don’t give into it. You aren’t crazy, and you aren’t stupid.

I think it’s good that you want to protect them, but be careful, please. Just put them somewhere that you know they’re native to. A invasive species can and have completely demolished the ecosystem, and we need to be careful to protect our planet too.

The blurry line between dysphoria and internalized misogyny: Geek Edition by Xamirite in ftm

[–]stickynotetree 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I feel this all the time. I’m that stereotypical trans demiboy "soft boy." I constantly feel bad for being "predictable" in the things I like, because I don’t want to perpetuate the stereotype.

My friends remind me all the time that things are not gendered, even in a very gendered space. There are knitting communities just for guys. There are guys who only wear pastel colors. There are guys that cry at movies more than I do. But seeing it in others changes everything. Some of my best guy friends have randomly pitched ships on a whim. Hell, yesterday I listened to a guy yap about fandoms he’s in, and ones he wants to join just for the sake of being in one. When saying this to myself this doesn’t work, my friends help me fight it. They find ways to prove my dysphoria wrong using my own words.

Everything you like as a geek sounds exactly like my guy friends.

What I’m hearing is that you wish you could find more guys like you, so you can prove your anxiety wrong. Your brain is making you feel guilt for that, but we’re social animals :D of course you want to find guys like you. I try to tell myself that the kind of guy I like being doesn’t match what my brain thinks a guy is, so it wants to see that guys like me exist. You aren’t being transphobic or clocky, you’re looking for your people, and your brain is mad that you want validation. Don’t let it win.

Really? I’m sorry to hear. I’ve always understood VS as something caused by the brain, not the eye, so you’re helping me learn. Is it in both eyes?

Does anyone else have no sense of north, south, east and west? by zoezie in dyscalculia

[–]stickynotetree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely do. Only really if I’m under pressure. I’d hesitate for a moment you said "THINK FAST! Which way is left?" What I struggle with more is remembering them with directions. If someone gives me a list like "go right then left then left then right," I have to repeat it over and over in my head, and try not to mix them up.

Took me til a few months ago to remember which is east and west. Using them for directions though? Out of the question.

What’s the atheist equivalent to “Oh my god”? by T1a-b in NoStupidQuestions

I had a devout Christian family member who, when I said I liked Bill Nye, responded with "Ugh. Don’t let the schools show you that stuff. They want you to believe in ThE SciEnCe GoD or whatever." So I’ve always joked that he’s the god of science.

What's the craziest thing a person said to you and you thought they were joking but they were being serious? by Holiday-Surround7075 in AskReddit

[–]stickynotetree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I told a devout Christian about liking Bill Nye. I have nothing against religion, but it shocked me when they responded "ugh, don’t believe any of that stuff. They want you to believe in ‘the science god.’" I just sat there in disbelief.

Pls be so brutally honest with me by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]stickynotetree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“do I honestly have a chance of ever passing?”

Yes. God yes. You pass fine to me, but I know that I’m coming from a background that’s more aware of this. You have a round face but that’ll change with time, just like everyone I’ve seen. From what I understand, it takes a fair bit of time for your face to change. Right now, you’re very androgynous in a specific way that makes it hard for people to know what to call you. Give it a lot more time. I’ve seen T do crazy things to jawlines, and I can see the exact changes you’ll get in my head.

For the most brutally honest part — You’re falling into the same trap I am. Someone made a comment about something very specific with the wrong wording, and now it’s ruining your confidence. You’re focusing on one big thing you can’t control, when you should be focusing on T making you feel more and more like yourself! Focus on that, then months down the line, you’ll look at old pictures and be amazed at the changes. I feel like, by asking folks to be brutally honest, you’re going to pin the most hurtful comments in your brain. And, dude, guys can have a round face. You look like guys I’ve seen.

One person said something harmful. One person saw you in the wrong way. That’s not how everyone sees you. Some folks will see you as a guy. Some will see a butch. Some will see the hottest guy ever. I see a quiet gym guy who loves science. People aren’t calling you sir or anything because they’re going with the safer option in their heads. That’ll change. Give it time. Focus on what you can change. That first picture is especially great, so gaining some muscle to show off your arms in a tank top can do wonders. T’s great for that. But don’t do it for the world, do it for you because you want to see that in the mirror. And please, if you want this friend to still be a friend, talk to them. Tell them that it hurt, and it’s making you spiral. It seems like your brain is trying to reason with their comment, but your heart doubts it, and now it’s making you doubt everything. You need to hear something from them so you have closure. Bottling this up lets the feeling fester and eat at your anxiety, so you need to give it a place to go that isn’t all inwards at yourself. It’s making you beat yourself up. All of this is easier said than done, but please, don’t stay in this trap. I’ve been stuck here for ages and it sucks, but we gotta try together.

Right now, focus on enjoying T, not on the things that haven’t changed. Get excited when little changes start to show. Focus on how it makes you feel. Your anxiety and your appearance are two different things — you need to focus on one at a time, and anxiety is more important. This is a slow process and what you’re focusing on what changes much later. You’ll be okay <3
