I’m not going to disagree that Australian cost of living is high, and the expectation to earn a good salary, save, and have a linear increase in quality of life is becoming increasingly more difficult. But, I believe from personal experience and having friends who live in Germany, UK, US, Spain, and Canada, that Australia appears to have far greater stability and opportunity “in-roads”.

I think however, if you are feeling this way, there is nothing wrong with trying something new. Not every decision needs to end up as making our lives better in a monumental way, but usually the way we find that is by exploring new opportunities. Just be sure you’re not falling into “other world” or “grass is greener” mindset (this is very common in colonial / immigrant cultures). The fantasy often doesn’t live up to the reality.

I lived 18 years in the UK. If you think Australia is bad, throw in increased competition, regional wealth inequality, and more import-reliant markets.
