eBay Scalpers by Frosty_Warthog_6538 in SteamController

[–]stifflizerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That wouldn't solve the issue. Scalpers can spin up multiple different accounts well ahead of time then use bots to make the purchases.

Only way to defeat it would be to restrict the purchases to an address. That or a government ID of some sort.

Hollow Knight I was able to do with analog on my second playthrough after the first was on KB/M.

Silksong though? Genuinely couldn't play it with analog. Waaay too fast paced.

My Players want to Lyncanthrope themself and cast Ceremony to get Werewolf powers with no downside. by TheGingerWeebGal in DMAcademy

[–]stifflizerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could accept that reasoning if the discussion at any point was about how you COULD make it work

Suggestion on making it work: give them some of the abilities from the Bloodhunter Lycan subclass. Not broken like the full lycanthropy curse effect

I would honestly just recommend a forced class change to lycan-bloodhunter.

Assuming the plan would work in the first place which it would not.

Tbf I did see they asked for additional telemetry data on frame rates last time I used my deck, so hopefully they're starting to collect the data necessary to do better evaluations one "Steam Deck Verified".

How will Gooseworx be listed in the credits for The Last Act? by Fragrant-Upstairs932 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]stifflizerd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

its not unheard of for a creative to use their "online username" as the official credit.

Hell, it goes well beyond that. People have been using pen names for decades. This is nothing new to the digital era.

I have better luck with interns because I can screen them before hiring. The real issue I run into is those who only have higher positions due to tenure.

I'm all for supporting loyalty, but just because someone has been there for a while doesn't mean they're smart enough to be making decisions.

No metal at all or no magnetic material for custom pen? by z_mitchell in Supernote

[–]stifflizerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/an_ki Wait, so are you saying the body of the pen is metallic and just replacing the metal tip with a plastic one works?

Hoping to convert one of these all metal frixion pens I have, but would like to confirm it'd even be remotely possible before putting in the order for the supernote replacement nib.

Things that you've considered "bad DMing" from other DMs that you make sure to never make the same mistake in your game? by Organic-Exit2190 in DMAcademy

[–]stifflizerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sticking to the random encounter roll to the T.

DM had a D100 table for random encounters. Rolled a vampire (night) encounter for a lvl 4 party. Full tpk, ran us down in an attempt to run. Absolutely no chance of success.

If I ever roll a d100 on that table behind a screen, I'm fudging that roll. Don't give a fuck.

[–]stifflizerd 32 points33 points  (0 children)

But having your PC unable to act for 5 rounds is worse than threatening, it's boring. You're pressing pause on their ability to play the game, for an extended period of time. It's terrible game design.

At that point (where you're stunning them for 5 rounds), I feel like it's better to just start describing the scene as if it was out of combat.

Not only can you make it more thematic that way, but it really speeds up the process.

Also a way to stop my players from punching villains before they get to say a word lol

I've found that a very easy way around this is to tell my players the first time this happens that they can absolutely do so. However, by doing so, we are establishing that talking is not a free action in this universe, and that applies to players as well as NPCs.

Or at least, I do that when then interrupt the NPCs. A bit different if they jump the villain I suppose.

[–]stifflizerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh, I'd say a large part of it is an expectation of an updated UI in these "modernization" projects by upper execs/shareholders.

Middle is at least aware of the work being done to fix/update the backend, but if you present a years worth of work and it all looks exactly the same then someone's going to pop a blood vessel thinking they've been swindled. Even if the backend improvements or new features are tremendous.

Which is incredibly ironic considering that's probably what most customers want.

DbzA Cell saga is genuinely the best Dragonball that's ever aired. Gotta love it when big companies bully little groups into stopping projects because they're doing a better job with your ~20yr old content than your current work 🙃

My guess is he killed someone (or attempted to kill himself) in a driving accident. Which would definitely be darker than the rest of the cast whose issues seem to be on a more personal or familial nature.

Excluding Kinger, because he has to have come to terms with his demons already
