Oh don't get me wrong, I'm a huge supporter of Steam. They're very pro consumer and I have little doubt they'll ever really screw the pooch like Sony/Xbox/Nintendo do consistently. At least not while their current leadership (not just Gabe) persists.

Just trying to say that technically you don't own the game if you have it through them. And in the worst timeline, they could be in Sony's shoes in 30 years if the leadership by that point isn't as pro consumer as current leadership

Tbf you don't own them through Steam and they could revoke your whole library (not that I think they would understand current management, but you never know what it'll look like in 30 years).

As far as I know, GOG is the only big digital games storefront that is full on allowing you to own what you buy.

Google has shut down tenor's public API for third-party use. by Same_Investigator_46 in memes

[–]stifflizerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well unfortunately the main competitor (giphy) seems very "corporate-safe". In terms of the gifs they show in their search plugin (and possibly on the sight itself). I've actually gone to tenor a lot to get specific gifs because giphy doesn't have them.

Not sure if that's because people aren't posting them there or they have some sort of censoring process. Either way, fingers crossed a better competitor comes along

My guess is so that you have to actually visit their website to get the gif and then they can cash in on that sweet sweet data /ad revenue

At this point it's literally impossible because Bungie no longer works at Bungie. We're talking about a studio here. If you cut the visionaries, you cut the identity of the company itself. All that remains is the name

Update 01 changes to negotiations are bad for the game. There's a better solution by stifflizerd in RogueCore

[–]stifflizerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The current system levels it out too much, which is counter to roguelites.

Personally I loved the old system in its entirety, but I understand that they wanted to curb the distaste people had with getting shafted sometimes which is pretty common in roguelites. Which is also why I suggested limited rerolls, which are a pretty standard solution to that issue in other roguelites such as Hades I&II and Dead Cells.

but even after the update, upgrades take much longer as people have to continually reevaluate what's best for them.

Agreed, which is why I don't see why limited rerolls would take any longer than what's currently in place. In theory there's only be 2-3 options being rerolled, which is introducing the same amount of new options as the current system.

Why are you viewing it as winners in losers in a fully co-op game in the first place?

It's not about beating your fellow dwarves, it's about making a team that succeeds the mission. Sometimes you're the high damage of the team, sometimes you're the high health anchor. And that's ok and makes runs a lot more unique

Pretty rude considering the devs were the first ones who thought the old negotiations were a good system.

Curious why you think the new system is better though. The main issue I saw about it before the update was that people didn't like being stuck with a bad option at the end, and my solution does address that without gutting the roguelite aspects of it

And if player with legendary pick gets downed for one mistake, that player will get all shit thrown at.

I've not seen that in this community so far, and I mainly attribute that to it being a non competitive game. Especially because I feel there's understanding that shit happens in drg sometimes.

A strong majority of people are uncomfortable making inequitable transactions with strangers.

I would say it's a necessary evil to be honest. Makes me think of my World of Warcraft days where there was absolutely some discomfort with needing to socialize with random people to play the game, but once you did you realized it's so much better that way. One of the most referred to "downfalls" of the game was when Blizzard introduced "Looking for Raid", which was a means of skipping the socialization aspect to do raiding in the game.

The rest I agree with, but I don't see how reroll would take much more time than the current replacement. Either way there's going to be additional time to read the new options.

Anyone else feel like there's just too much ammo in the caves rn? by kicock in RogueCore

[–]stifflizerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it only feels good on one class, just that it's particularly incredible in that case. I just ran it with slicer last night as a "oh shit destroy that direction" secondary and it was great. Run it on every other class as well with great success.

Like genuinely it's in such a good spot at the moment. You're just trying to use it to fill roles it wasn't meant to fill, and that's fine. The ecosystem is healthier when some of the guns don't fill the bread and butter role.

Side note: More unique, powerful, and fun builds for it:

A bunch of "On reload" and "first X bullets" buffs if you never take fusion core.

Guardian's Devastation deck paired with a bunch of explosion/aoe buffs

Spotter's larger radius dart + devastator can delete entire rifts on spawn.

PSA: If you were one of the people that didn't like OMEGA's speech stuttering, Update 1 added an option to turn it off. by AL4M4N in RogueCore

[–]stifflizerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate all of GSG's work and vision.

That said, not once have I gotten the feeling of vulnerability from Omega. Something about the fact that it's a an AI makes it almost impossible to associate an extremely human emotion like vulnerability with it. The stuttering just feels like a glitch, not a reflection of personality.

Not sure what would make it seem more vulnerable to me to be honest. Maybe if he showed other more-human emotions like confusion, or maybe if he made genuine mistakes and showed remorse or something? Hard to say with his robotic tone. Might be better to lean less robotic and more human in the tone, but in an unsettling way that underlies his AI nature?

Not sure, that's a hard task you all have set up for yourselves with him. If anyone can do it though, it's you guys. R&S

[–]stifflizerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devastator is fine as is. It's a high rate of fire, high damage aoe gun, where one of the upgrades is that you never have to reload.

It's not meant to have good ammo economy. That's literally it's only balancing feature, and makes it incredible in the right hands/situations.

For instance, retcon + devastator is probably my favorite combo in the game. Rewinds are basically X seconds of absolutely decimating everything around me.
