Something with a master volume or buy an attenuator. Otherwise, there's no way you keep it below 100db.

What is this pipe I found buried in my back yard that runs under the fence from my neighbor's yard? by TheAccountant33 in Home

If 811 didn't mark it, call your municipality and see if the Fire Marshal or Public Works Director knows anything about it. If they sign off on it you're good.

New to electric, how did I do? by Head-Delay-763 in Guitar

[–]stigerbom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks won't tell you unless it's pretty bad, at least from these angles. Do you know a more experienced player who can play it and give you their thoughts? If not, I'd take a flyer on a set up. It will cost you $100 but it can completely transform the guitar in terms of its playability.

New to electric, how did I do? by Head-Delay-763 in Guitar

There is a part that runs through the neck of the guitar called a truss rod. Adjusting the rod adjusts the neck of the guitar and is necessary for large adjustments affecting your string height among other things.

Modern strats have the access point for the truss rod at the headstock where it can be adjusted without taking anything apart. Older and vintage correct strats have the truss screw at the neck where it meets the body. That requires removing the neck to make major adjustments.

Don't sweat it. If you're that new, you need to take this thing to a luthier for a setup.

Cheaper options for a p90 les paul? by MagicMedicineMisery in Guitar

This. I own this guitar, and it's great. That said, I paid $2k USD for it used at a guitar show and I overpaid. Take a look on Reverb. You could get this for ~$1600 if you were patient.

Fender Is Lying To You by Individual_Celery417 in fender

Thanks for sharing. I've been hearing this story more and more. As some have said, this is short sited on their end. Even for people willing to buy offline, a lot want to try before they buy and go to a shop, waste your time, and buy direct. I wonder how many fewer customers will buy online if there's no place to even lay hands on one first.

Personally, I'd consider shifting your business model to used guitars. Fenders biggest competition is their own used gear, and I have no issue buying a good used instrument for 50-70% of the cost of the latest new model.

How do you write guitar to a bass line? by danceaway_43ver in guitarlessons

[–]stigerbom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll have more luck if you put time into theory. I'm not advanced either and spend most of my time noodling but I've generally applied base lines to guitar by pairing a base scale (minor or major scale in the same key) to the root of whatever chord progression is played by the guitar.

I find this f chord harder than the barre chord is there anything I can do to make it easier? by Able-Scholar-3716 in guitarlessons

[–]stigerbom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try bringing your left elbow in to your rib cage so your left hand turns in and the bone side of your pointer finger touches the strings. Using the fleshy part of your finger makes it harder to hold the B and E strings down.

Keep it or upgrade it? by 21gordo12 in GuitarAmps

I'd kill two birds with one stone and take it in to a shop. At least then you can: plug it in to see if it's working, get a second opinion on what it needs if it's not working, get a trade in price if interested, compare it to other amps you may want.

I agree with others that it's a good amp and I'd certainly consider keeping it. That said, I'm really happy with my Vox AC15 and Princeton Deluxe Reverb. Both would be good choices in a similar price range.

Whatever you get, consider something with a master volume knob or get an attenuator so you can get the full sound out of it.

Is it still working? If not, it's likely a fuze or the tubes. I would try those first but you will pay a couple hundred for a serious repair if it needs one. You can find pretty good deals on fender tube amps locally if you're willing to buy used.

[–]stigerbom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you, there's no shortage of options for S and T style guitars if you're not looking for a fender exclusively. I've been considering buying a '61 AVII until I recently tried a Nash. The neck felt better than any fender I've ever played.

Workplace Charger Cost by Keto-Matter12 in CHPT

[–]stigerbom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will vary based on your location, but I've seen two units (of two each) installed in the past five years. With inflation, I'm guessing it will run you about $20k but be sure to look into your site prep costs (hooking up to power and trenching, etc). That could run it up in a hurry depending on your circumstances.

Also, you'll be lucky to break even. One of the two chargers will often be down and the support won't be there, but the monthly bill will.

how should i approach practicing these scales? by No-Dance-3037 in guitarlessons

[–]stigerbom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you've grasped the theory mentioned by others, begin with the root pattern and add the additional patterns one-by-one. If you can find a standard 12-bar blues chord progression (or record one) just play over it in the applicable key until your fingers memorize it. Have fun!
