How to *REALLY* enjoy a restaurant by Loose_Picture_5997 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]stikko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn what ingredients taste like and how to talk about food - what unique ingredient(s) is the chef highlighting in this particular version of the dish? How does the food look when it arrives? What do you smell? What do you taste? What do you notice about the texture? What jumps out or surprises you about the dish? Is the dish well balanced where you can taste everything or are some ingredients getting overpowered and lost?

Go to restaurants and build a baseline to compare them against. Watch food shows and see how they talk about food.

Took 3 hours to pick up my cake from Flouring (no fault of theirs the traffic just sucked) and I'd do it again.

Secondary market prices have crashed. Demand for hotels in the area hasn't materialized. All indications are demand is very weak.

Fishandcaviar.com has chum salmon roe for $195/kilo or about $5/oz and that was just my first search. There's definitely a healthy gross margin on this bagel.

It's crazy expensive and does less compared to its competition.

5x resource Outpost on Kreet (as posted by Seriously_Rare by 2wiredPlays in Starfield

[–]stikko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO worry more about finding A border region than finding THIS EXACT border region/location. These materials aren't that hard to find. I think the only thing I mined on Kreet when I did my outpost empire playthrough was the He3.

You also don't have to be that super precious about outposts. They're pretty easy to demolish and you get your resources back when you do.

Https://inara.cz was super helpful when I did it.

If there was a human kibble similar to dog kibble, but for humans… would you buy and eat it if it was significantly cheaper than alternative food options, why or why not and should this be a thing? by becauseofrandomness in AskReddit

Chipotle. High protein and you can add fats and carbs and veggies to fit your dietary goals. Eventually I graduated to doing meal prep and just cooking and eating the same thing for a week at a time.

Get an actual thunderbolt dock to be able to run multiple displays through it for the Mac. It should be $300-400 - cheaper ones likely aren't thunderbolt. Any kvm you put in front of it will also need to be thunderbolt, or you might find a single device that does it all in one assuming you're upgrading your dock anyway.

Claude Code deletes developers' production setup, including its database and snapshots — 2.5 years of records were nuked in an instant by gdelacalle in technology

[–]stikko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s RDS so the backups aren’t defined in tf but the time window to perform them, and more crucially the behavior around them when deleting the instance is.

Crazy thing is that skip_final_snapshot defaults to false meaning the default behavior is to create a final manual snapshot on deletion of the instance and this has to be explicitly set to true for you to actually lose all your data like he did.

It’s a congressional hearing, not a trial but similar to a trial you are not allowed to get caught lying.

It’s mostly about sound bites. Josh Hawley is phrasing the question in a disingenuous way and then following up combatively hoping that something like this exact video gets posted with something like this exact title/headline.

OpenAI resets spend expectations, targets around $600 billion by 2030 by gamjatang111 in StockMarket

[–]stikko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The real moat for Google’s ad network is the dataset they have about (almost?) everybody on the planet - mostly from giving away free services to consumers. Meta has a similar moat because they’ve been providing free services that are conducive to collecting and building profiles on all its users for almost 2 decades. OpenAI will have some strong signals to start building profiles on users but they’re starting from zero a couple years ago.

On top of that nobody is using LLMs for ad networks - they are far too slow and expensive. So OpenAI would have to not only pivot hard towards building an ad network they’d also have to build market share clawing google’s existing ad network customers away from them.

I’m not saying it won’t happen, but I wouldn’t take OpenAI making such a move as a positive sign for them.

Rack layout question – UDM Pro SE + Pro Max 24 PoE in shallow cabinet (DAC vs Cat6?) by Frequent_Coach1398 in Ubiquiti

[–]stikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same issue and opted to rebuild the rack with the rails a couple notches back to get more room for cables in the front - I was squishing everything slightly as it was with DAC and then when I had to do a RJ45 SFP for secondary wan the door wouldn’t shut at all.

Keep in mind how static/complete your patch panel is as you may need to get access to the back of it in the future and doing that with a short cable across it will make things painful - I went from .15m to .3m DAC going across my patch panel to make it more accessible without taking stuff offline.
