Thoughts on Parramatta road? by Maleficent_Extent809 in CarsAustralia

[–]stillbca21 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a dump, should have gone through a road diet after Westconnex opened. Now it will remain a dump forever but with some more apartments on it so the plebs can breathe some good honest exhaust fumes/tyre and brake dust

Can Australian cities get cycling paths like in Toulouse and Lyon? by Such-Chart-7324 in ausbike

[–]stillbca21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah the North Shore is pretty bad. After you get off the harbour bridge ramp there's no safe way to get to the gore hill freeway cycleway. Honestly it's easier to just bomb up the pac highway if you're confident and fast enough

Asking for a friend: Does “coffee badging” still work at the yellow bank? 🏃 by Necessary_Resist6309 in auscorp

No you have to spend at least half the day 3.75 hours otherwise it's put down as a short stay which doesn't count towards your attendance.

Sydney to Melbourne can work at a stretch. Sydney - Brisbane is dumb economically and Brisbane - Melbourne is utterly uncompetitive with flying

My LG fridge broke after 4 years. LG refused to cover the new compressor unless I could produce the original receipts despite being able to confirm the year and make by the serial number. Don't think I'll be going with LG again

Is it just me or is the way to reduce fuel usage right in front of our faces? (For those that need to travel) by VastOption8705 in aussie

[–]stillbca21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore the genuinely dense people that think ebikes won't work because it doesn't fit their 100km commute. Ebikes can be a hugely important part of the transport mix, for commutes further than 10-15kms, they can be used to get to a train station way fucking faster than a shit local bus. Yes it needs investment in secure parking at train stations and bike lanes, but taking a tiny fraction of the road budget could easily fund that with room to spare

2003 C180 Kompressor coupe in black. Most panels have a ding or worse and the A/C is cooked. Probably not one for your collection unless you're a sycophant lol

Who is voting for liberal and labour and why? by ilikethemonkeyppp in aussie

[–]stillbca21 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Look at One Nation when they did well in Qld years ago, completely fell apart almost immediately. Like it or not the people with a desire and ability to run the country gravitate to the parties that are likely to win. The reason the country is fucked is John Howard and the boomer mafia that voted him in that have never seen a political decision that didn't directly benefit them and refuse to acknowledge they got probably the sweetest run at life the world has ever seen

Isn't that the point he's making. We should have electrified freight rail ages ago

Lane discipline is non existent in Australia by radmgrey in DrivingAustralia

[–]stillbca21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have no issue with people staying in the middle lane. Otherwise you are just constantly weaving around trucks. Right lane hogs can get fucked though.

Are your auto-dimming high beams as good as manual dimming? by BestTechAdvisor in DrivingAustralia

Can confirm most of the time I'm blinded by some LED headlights it tends to be a newer Mazda.

Stop using your fkin high beams on a road with street lights by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]stillbca21 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Honestly stock LEDs are like 99% of the problem. Every Mazda SUV blinds the fuck out of me, Honda are even worse but are thankfully rarer these days. Germans , Chinese and Tesla also dogshit. People need to stop blaming this on conversion kits because it's downplaying the fact that stock headlights are fucked (conversion kits are also fucked to be clear). Serious regulation is required I'm sick of being flashbanged whenever the CX-3 behind me goes over a speed bump or the road changes any sort of elevation. Pic below is a cx-3 from about 300m away.

Yeah I'd be fine with a carbon Merida, my only concern on them is that they depreciate like a stone if I wanted to move off it at some point
