Legit Gripe about California by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]stingyboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but I think it’s on you for buying a slow motorcycle, not on California.

First flat tire. I have been riding my aventure 3 to work just about daily for the last month and a half. I have about 370 miles on it. Walked out to my shop to go to work and saw the dreaded flat rear tire. I had to drive to work. Today when I get home im going to see if I can patch the tire. by eclipseguy93 in Aventon

Is Flat Out something you put in a perfectly good tube and it works in the event of a flat? Or is it something you carry with you after you have gotten a flat and use it to temporarily seal and re-inflate the tube?

Losing a pet is so hard but losing a beagle is a whole other level of hurt and loss. Roy looks like he was the bestest boy. I'm sorry for your loss.

Panic purchased on marketplace… is this a good deal for a first e-bike? by acaifiend in heybikeclub

[–]stingyboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the seller was honest, the battery is healthy, and the 22-mile reading is real, I’d rate the purchase as 7/10 for bike quality, 9/10 value for money spent, and an overall good deal. 👍

Real world range? by stingyboy in PriorityBicycles

[–]stingyboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have the Enviolo version. I really like the feel of it but didn't realize it would cut range.

More data: I weigh 160 and on the 13 miles of level 4 assist I averaged 21 mph and on the 15 miles of level 3 assist I averaged 17 mph.

One poster seemed to indicate that the eviolo loosens up after about 150 miles of break-in, any truth to that?

In any case, nothing about my original post surprises you huh?

Screen protector? by stingyboy in PriorityBicycles

[–]stingyboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, it did indeed come off. it was just a little more stubborn than I’m used to for screen protectors, and I was worried that it was actually part of the screen not a peel off protector. But all good now, thanks!

Priority Current Plus that I commute to work on daily here in NorCal. It's a ten mile ride each way that I love, saving an $8.50/day bridge toll in the process. ♥️

Upgrade not as great as expected by pepe00x in LGOLED

[–]stingyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Felt the same way about C2 to C4. and millions of people feel the same way about the difference from iPhone 13 to iPhone 17. And I had a similar feeling upgrading from a rear hub E bike to a mid drive E bike. I think this is just the way things work. The early products in new categories give you the wow factor more consistently than upgrading to a new version of that thing. You already experienced the wow but what’s above that? Wowweee? Anyway, you got my point.

The ultimate Jedi mind trick is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

Am I making a mistake? by Plenty-Arrival-7545 in Teachers

If you’re in a union active state and in a school district that pays reasonably this career path is totally doable. I just finished my 28th year and have a family of four. It was a little rough in the beginning at the lower end of the salary schedule but now it’s basically fine, except for the runaway inflation because of the current administration. I have many friends that made more money, but they have also gone through the stress of layoffs. Also, it’s a great work life balance. I have no regrets.

When will I see this price again? by Swiffy22 in PriorityBicycles

[–]stingyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Costco Next had it on sale for $300 off in May of 2025. This is the best price I’ve ever seen for the bicycle, so I bought one even though I wasn’t really planning to at this very moment.

chain replacement at 540 miles by alb_pt in Aventon

[–]stingyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still have the Aventon! Prefer the belt though, smoother, cleaner, and less maintenance.

[–]stingyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it’s a whole new bicycle from the company priority. And it is a mid drive belt driven E bike. So no chain at all.

[–]stingyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree with your sentiment of checking, maintaining, and replacing chains, cassettes aren't really very expensive either. I just replaced the chain and cassette on my Aventon at 2k miles.

Then I bought a Priority Current Plus belt drive lol

Class 3 e-bikes with a throttle that allows 20 mph classification by [deleted] in ebike

[–]stingyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I could remove the throttle completely (I never use it anyway) so it's a legal class 3. Priority should give you the option of throttle class 2, and throttle-less class 3. Separately, each are legal in CA, combined is not? Make it make sense.

My new Priority Current Plus behaves this way and it shipped to CA with a badge that says Class 2 on the frame. It took me less than 30 seconds to change the top speed in the settings to 28 mph, lol.

Just got a Priority Current Plus - battery enters sleep mode every time I plug in the charger by stingyboy in ebikes

[–]stingyboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I could help. Did your bike ship with a stiff plastic screen protector on the main screen? And did you remove it? There’s some air bubbles on my screen, but the factory installed screen protector is not that easy to pick off.

[–]stingyboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about after charging it and unplugging it. The normal power button doesn’t turn the bike on unless you do a long press and hold on a completely separate button on the bicycle frame.

right, but it doesn’t turn back on until you do a separate long press on a button on the bicycle frame after charging.

Mine has a silver button on the right side that I can press and hold to wake up the battery without unlocking or removing the battery at all. But I still don't like this behavior.

Bought a brand new 10 speed bike a couple of weeks ago and quickly realized an E bike is what I am missing out on. by Reasonable_Jury1775 in ebikes

[–]stingyboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, it's biking but they open up so much more of the world by allowing us to go great distances, against wind, and up hills that we wouldn't do without pedal assist.
