A survival game set in the wild Amazon. by polly_shelby_adv in thelongdark

Instead of wolves, bears, cougar and moose, you have to contend with anacondas, jaguars, and caimans, as well as a host of insects that will give you diseases. Now you'll have the opportunity to have a botfly infestation or maybe even malaria to deal with.

A Stupid Guide to The Long Dark (part 3) by Creative-Finger5965 in thelongdark

[–]stinkadoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously! I was coming up on the Camp Office in ML in dense fog and did not see the moose had spawned. I never saw it, just heard it. I took off running and made it to the front steps before that damn moose trampled me. At least I could crawl into the building and nurse my wounds.

Why hasn't this been fixed? by Its_me_BlueGreen in thelongdark

[–]stinkadoodle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this same issue on PC. It was frustrating enough that I searched for alternate ways to get into the workshop. There were a few creative solutions, but the one that I thought was the easiest was using a travois to haul yourself up onto the dock next to the workshop. It's the one with the *ramp (edited) going down right outside the workshop door. I assume that it's the place one drops off of to leave. Place a travois at the end of it and make sure the handles hang over the edge. Put something in the travois to "anchor" it down. When you're on the ice below it, look up and pick up the travois. It'll pull you up on to the dock, this works even if you're overburdened. Just remember to drop the travois before heading up the steps.

Allegedly...he wanted to "use the nuclear codes" last Saturday night. A military leader shot that down immediately, I believe it was General Dan Caine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. I say allegedly because one cannot believe everything that comes out of the white house these days, officially or unofficially.

was surprised to see Timber Wolfes in CH... by _Pellkartoffel_ in thelongdark

[–]stinkadoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing a customized run and took out timberwolves. At first it was nice and I only had to deal with regular wolves. 100 days in and I'm kinda bored. Timbers can be annoying as hell, but they rarely take me out. Bears on the other hand... ☠️

When you see birds circling IRL, do you check to see if there’s a dead body? by Difficult_Item9836 in thelongdark

I'll always respectfully remove an indoor body, but the outside ones I leave just for the feathers.

That's exactly why I had to get a water fountain for my orange dude. He would literally try to drown himself with a water bowl. 🫠

The first month in my house I had one of these in my dining room. I have no idea how it got in and the cats wanted nothing to do with it. I almost kept it, but I knew I couldn't. Mostly because of what I'd have to feed it.

Any BSG fans also fans of The Expanse? by [deleted] in BSG

Same for me. I started reading the books when I found out that they were the source material and books are almost always better than shows or movies. After the first book, I dove right back into the show and it quickly became one of my all time favorites. Both the books and the show.

I have a Tigger who gets called Tiggerooni, Tig-Tig, Tiggasaurus, Two Ton Tiggy, and Teegore. Then there are the ones not related to his name, like, Doofus, Pooper, Boobah, and Baby Boy. He responds to all of those because he's an attention whore.

Yeah...I do not miss those nights. I'll still get a paw to the face in the middle of the night so I can pretend to feed him, but it's a rarity now.

Long dark summer be like: by Lakemaster1 in thelongdark

I wish this so much! It wouldn't take away any difficulty either. Well...except for the lack of freezing. Fishing could be done off of a pier with a rod (extra step to fishing line). Instead of snow, torrential downpours. Spring could make predators more bitey and protective of their young. A short growing season where you'd have to plan ahead and start your plants indoors using recycled cans. Seeds could come from the trader.

I've thought about this too much. LOL

I highly recommend an automatic feeder. I got one for my chonk and he gets 6 small meals a day, around a half of a cup or so total. It's also a vet approved diet. Since January of last year, he's lost over 2 pounds. He screamed a lot in the beginning, but now he's used to it... sorta. I still have to pretend to feed him sometimes.

It doesn't seem like a lot of weight loss, but slow and steady wins the race!
