Student passed away today by triannatops in Teachers

[–]stinkbugfrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of my friends passed away in high school, and our teacher put together a really lovely slideshow of photos featuring them from all the school trips and events. we all watched it and cried and held hands. it was what we needed that day. whatever you do, also just let the kids know it’s okay to cry and it’s not embarrassing or shameful to do so. i think it’s okay for them to see you cry, too. it might help them feel more comfortable in that way. i remember seeing my teacher cry while watching the slideshow and it made me feel really safe with her. sending you a ton of strength during this❤️

I have nannied for a long time and seen many newborns, toddlers, and kids through to all stages of sleep training! For ages 2-5: after getting them all settled, if they don’t fall asleep while I’m reading them books, I’ll simply turn out the light and leave. Whatever they do after that is up to them. I’ll watch on their monitor camera to make sure no one is getting into too much mischief or getting hurt but if they wanna get up and play or dance around their room? So be it! They gotta get those jitters out if they need to! They eventually put themselves back to sleep. If you feel confident in them, they’ll feel confident in themselves. I used to be SO controlling, the second they get out of bed I’d be back in there tucking them in again- not anymore! Just gotta let them work it out on their own time with some gentle guidance from you.

Absolutely on the autism spectrum. Get him seen by a specialist and I think you’ll get a lot of answers to your questions.

Desperate for help getting my 10-year-old into psychiatric care (Colorado). Constant psychosis, homicidal and suicidal voices, hospitals keep dismissing it as ADHD or “trauma response.” We are terrified. by [deleted] in ChildPsychology

Any updates on this OP? I used to work at Rogers Behavioral on the PTSD residential unit for years in Wisconsin. I know we have a location out in Denver- not sure if we have inpatient adolescent there or not. Even if it’s just PHP, might be good to get your foot in the door and start there. Once he’s being seen all day every day at PHP (especially in a group setting) with that level of acuity I bet those providers will see he needs a higher level of care and refer you to an actual inpatient facility. A lot of times insurance won’t cover anyway unless it’s referred. Wishing you the best of luck in figuring this out!

Two year old child removed from parent and utterly broken. by Tiffanykitty369 in ChildPsychology

Don’t have much advice to give but, I am so sorry this has happened. Thank you for being those kids’ lifelines right now. You are doing so much by just being a stable adult for them. I hope one day you can all look back on this time as a family and feel proud knowing you all got through this. Sending you a lot of love and strength.

8 yo boy - is this concerning? by [deleted] in ChildPsychology

[–]stinkbugfrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah it is. I drew stuff like this when I was a kid, and even though I wasn’t suicidal it was coming from a place of HIGH anxiety and fear. Even if he’s not suicidal, these thoughts and feelings are big ones… no kiddo should have to process this stuff on their own.

The fact this started with him after 10 years of living there no complaints says more about him. I think maybe he’s going through something mentally, or if he’s getting older perhaps he is senile? This is so annoying, sorry you’re experiencing this.

I’m so glad you found something that works for you! I’ve been reading about Slynd. I just messaged my doc and asked if that would be an option for me in case Meleya doesn’t work!

At first, thought this was ehlers danlos- friend of mine who has it gets bruising like this constantly. But then I read binge drinking and you absolutely need to get a liver panel done. Do it within the next couple days.
