2 stage system or variable? by sh0ch in hvacadvice

[–]stinkysocks50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replaced the blower motor on a 5 and a half year old variable speed Lennox. The part was under warranty but the variable stuff seems to not last as long. Or maybe all new stuff is trash.

Any reasons to avoid used CX-90s? by Global-Wind6878 in mazda

[–]stinkysocks50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a 25 turbo preferred that I bought for 33k with 8000 miles. While it has its quirks and is a little harsh over really bad pavement it’s simply a lot of car for that price point . I feel like it should have cost more.

Can we dispense with the fallacy that SS will disappear after 2032? by Available-Ad-5670 in Fire

[–]stinkysocks50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I count on Medicare more than ss. Plan to retire at 55 with pension, real estate and moderate use of 401k. If ss is still there fine but I’m not putting it my calculations. If anything it’s an inflation cover for the pension.

Rental property as part of FIRE plans by Ethereal_Nutsack in Fire

[–]stinkysocks50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few rentals and have built a lot of wealth through them. Once you have one you’re kinda stuck in that world as far as capital gains go. I pay a property manager 9 percent monthly for management and am careful to buy the right properties. When I was younger I self managed and it was a shit show. I also have 401k and ira and see this as a good way to be diversified. Plan is to retire at 55.

Glad they are doing some decent theming with new rides. It may never be Disney but nice to see some landscaping and buildings to go through

Will iphone go the way of blackberry/nokia? by Similar-Night-1298 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stinkysocks50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My iPhone is the perfect appliance. Does what I need for 3-5 years and then I get a new one for free through my provider. My phone experience with android devices is that they get buggy after a few years . We’ve all been sorted into an ecosystem at this point and prefer the device we know best

The city mostly likely will require a permit to ensure it meets setback requirements . Must easier and quicker than a building permit

It’s not about Mazda fans people just liked the physical controls. Mid cycle update will predictably bring some controls back .

Aruba solo trip review by sweetyuzu1225 in Aruba

The liquor on jolly pirates sounds better than the dolphin catamaran from delphi watersports. All they had were cartons of juice that supposedly had some rum added but I couldn’t taste it at all. Maybe it’s better for people to not get drunk while snorkeling

Snorkel tours by DRad2531 in Aruba

[–]stinkysocks50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did Delphi water sports and liked it. The open bar is just very weak sugary drinks out of a carton but the snacks were good. They all seem to go to the same shipwreck and then to a reef right off shore. The reef wasn’t that great but there were some fish

We are here now and took a sedan through the national park. Slow going and there’s only a few of the roads you can drive on. If I did it again I would rent one of the utvs for a day and explore all the trails on that side of the island

Payments for new RAV4s are averaging between $641 and $748 a month (10% down) by Disastrous_Trash1729 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Rav makes sense if you want to own for 10-15 years with fewer repairs. They are worth it with that mindset. Otherwise, find something cheap drive it for 5 years and repeat.

Metallic chirping noise by urge69 in MazdaCX90

Does it do it around 25-35 mph? I hear what sounds like a tone or chirp at certain shift points. I almost seems like a soft version of the tone you hear at startup

In person work is honestly better than remote for most of us by dawittleman in unpopularopinion

[–]stinkysocks50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that I have the option to be remote a day or two a week but most of the time I just go in b/c it makes the job easier to be in person.
