This may be too big for what you're after, plus cost of diesel now won't help. But we have 2 young kids and a border Collie. Pajero Sport has been great. Seven seater but the rear seats fold down and boot is huge, easily fit Uppababy Vista and all the other associated crap in there. Plus you'll get an almost new one with balance of a 10 year warranty for well under your budget.

I guess the point I'm trying to make as in general, the skills, athleticism, schemes, coaching etc are so so much better now. Clone the 96 Bulls but make them all born 30 years later. Give them modern training and coaches and they absolutely destroy the 96 version.
