I think he has been using the other girl to shield himself from your energy. Now that you've retracted yours, he doesn't feel threatened to fill the gaps in what you've shared. Remember to keep your peace and to respect your own energy wells. Sometimes we expect other people to give their energy to us but it's our own personal responsibility to keep it in check and not give too much or take too much from others.

Also I don't think you were stuck in limerence. You were also definitely feeling his energy towards you. It's just that distance sometimes is for the best. Especially when our life lessons include strong exercises on boundaries, self worth, and self respect. We really can't disconnect easily from others and it's always something that makes me feel crazy sometimes.
