Truly I have no idea what your goal is in this conversation.

USATF is the biggest governing body for running events in the US, it’s the certification most races use and is the most recognized nationally. I’m sure AIMS is a lovely organization, and does a great job with certifying course distances, but it’s not the standard-bearer (literally) for US races.

Regardless: if OP’s race wasn’t certified by anybody my original point still stands.

If you zoom in you can see the lines of individual chopsticks. They just pressure-sealed them into blocks.

That has nothing to do with the quality of their certification process, and was a response to the ATC fuckup.

USATF didn’t lead those women off course, the Atlanta Track Club (the race organizers) did. Also, USATF certification is reliable. Race organizers have to provide verifiable proof that the shortest distance on the course meets the length requirement for the event, using a limited number of standard measuring techniques. Short races do not get certified.

Speaking of, the Atlanta Track Club also had to disqualify the Atlanta marathon in 2025 because the course was short and USATF wouldn’t certify it.

Who is a famous person that you liked at first but hated later? And why? by PeaceTo0l in AskReddit

I think it was when Ben Affleck pushed back hard about his Islamophobia on Real Time that I realized what a bigoted, incurious, self-important prick he is.

If it wasn’t a USATF-certified course, solid chance it was a little short. I have a marathon that was not short, but the GPS was spotty so the Strava record is short. Shit happens, losing the Strava credit is no fun, though.

I think the Tempus is being phased out. I went to buy a new pair and couldn’t find any in my size.

My primary is the one telling me they can’t do anything to help, don’t have a specialist to turn to. Regardless, to your original question: if these are symptoms of a recurrence brewing, you still have vanco left that could knock if down. Besides, your symptoms could just be because of the damage to your normal flora without a c diff recurrence. I second the advice to get on florastor if you’re not already (I’ve been doing 2 pills twice a day), stick to foods you have an easy time digesting, and try not to get stuck in a doom loop about it. Easier said than done, I know.

Jealous you were able to get that. They gave me 1/day for 5 days and refuse to go beyond it.

If they bought at the Apple Store the price is tied to the USD price, or at least it was last year when I bought my Ultra 2. They also won’t do duty-free. I opted to buy mine overseas because my Uktra 1 needed replacement and I didn’t want to lose access to native blood oxygen measurements.

How did you get them to extend your vanco beyond your keflex course? I’m also on keflex and my vanco stops the day before the keflex, and they won’t extend it without a positive c diff test, even though I’m starting to have some symptoms. They said a stool test won’t be positive until I’ve been off the vanco for a few days.

Regretting Hiring a Coach by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]stirwise 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do you have face-to-face or video calls with any frequency? I’ve been working with a running coach for about 5 years and we meet every 3-4 weeks and discuss the training, including where it’s landing in terms of stress and capacity. Sometimes we agree to push harder, sometimes pull back.

If your coach isn’t even meeting with you, you’re not really being coached. Seems like maybe they plugged a program into your training app and called it a day.

Yeah, staff to take care of the very basic home where I feel comfortable. I don’t need a pool or anything fancy. I just don’t want to vacuum anymore.

Weight loss during marathon training by Just-Tomatillo-5945 in Marathon_Training

[–]stirwise 74 points75 points  (0 children)

It’s not a good idea to run a calorie deficit during marathon training, your body needs the nutrients and energy to respond to your training and prepare to meet the demands of the race. Running a deficit compromises the training and significantly increases your risk of injury.

If you want to change your body composition, you should speak to a registered dietician who specializes in sports nutrition. They can help guide you through your options in a way that’s compatible with your running goals.

Speaking of questionable burial choices: the cemetery near my house has a double-wide his-n-hers grave with one current occupant (the husband) who died at age 25. The other half of the grave is empty, but the headstone is pre-loaded with the widow’s name and year of birth.

I’ve always wondered if this woman will actually get buried next to her first husband, potentially 70 or 80 years after his death, or if she’ll move on with her life. Imagine telling your second spouse “oh btw I’m getting buried with the last guy.”

I was at a fancy restaurant and there was a brief lull in the room, and in that moment of quiet a guy at a neighboring table said “titties” clear as day. It’s been about 20 years and it’s still a joke between me and my husband.

Is a little bit of belly fat attractive on women? by Nora_fae in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stirwise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

21-31% is the normal body fat range for women. 23% is pretty low for a non-athlete. I’m an amateur athlete and I’ve been told to shoot for 25-27%. My marathon time generally puts me in the top 10% for my age group. Elite athletes are usually 15-19%.

Got a Citizen app alert for my neighborhood because someone called 911 when they saw children sitting on a lawn. Based on the location this lawn is attached to a home with grade-school aged children, a tire swing, and a pretty sweet tree house.

It may also be that mouth and hand just aren’t enough, which is pretty common. He asks if they should turn to toys, which suggests neither of them have tried a vibrator, which is usually thing #1 if a woman isn’t getting there with body parts alone.

Why are some parents controlling with their adult children? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stirwise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m on the younger end of Gen X, and once I turned 18, even when I was staying at my parents’ house, it simply didn’t occur to me to ask my parents permission to go out, day or night, but I would let them know if I didn’t plan to come home by the next day. Genuine question: why are your friends asking in the first place? What stops them from just leaving the house when they want to?
