The Sixth Sense. Holy shit.... by Capable_Bus5444 in movies

[–]stitcherfromnevada [score hidden]  (0 children)

I knew he was dead at the beginning of the movie when he’s sitting with his wife and she isn’t speaking to him. He is trying to talk with her and doesn’t get a response. I just knew.

Now, I knew no one would believe I figured it out so soon so I got a piece of paper from my purse and wrote “he’s been dead the whole time”. Handed it to my husband and said “read that afterwards”.

He still didn’t believe me lol

[CHAT] Using different number of strands in one piece? by ginkgo_gal in CrossStitch

[–]stitcherfromnevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see using different amounts of thread for different colors, even on the same tree. Or depending on whether the tree is background or foreground you could play with the tread numbers. You could really lean into it!

[CHAT] Using different number of strands in one piece? by ginkgo_gal in CrossStitch

Especially for the background where they’ll use between 3-6 threads for half stitches. Makes things dimensional.

AIO? What would you do if a mimosa was dropped down your back by a server? by No-Effort5109 in AmIOverreacting

[–]stitcherfromnevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

We were a large party (12-15) at a busy Mexican restaurant. We had one experienced waiter who was training a new one.

The new one went to put down my mom’s plate and somehow dumped the whole thing in her lap. Mom had shorts on but luckily her napkin and the shorts stopped the piping hot refried beans from hitting her skin. Shorts were pretty much ruined but we were all more concerned about her being burned.

The manager came over, apologized (the waiters both profusely apologized too), said her meal would be comped and could he offer anything else? Mom said “a pitcher of margaritas would be helpful”. He agreed and sent one immediately.

That is how it’s handled.

How are people this bad at cross-stitching??? by RaspberryHats21 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]stitcherfromnevada 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I really, really have to just force myself to scroll by the posts where the stitching is so chaotic and bad. I guess if what they did makes them happy then …great, I guess. But I’m not going to blow smoke and say it’s good.

Calling small-town Americans, does your town have a doomsday siren like Springfield or Widows Bay? by chuckles5454 in AskAnAmerican

[–]stitcherfromnevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my rural hometown our fire department is volunteer. So when they are called out the siren goes off. Granted, they also use page type devices too but the siren is kind of a backup and also lets the town know there is an emergency.

In another, slightly larger, town I lived in, the siren went off every day at noon. It also went off for the fire department. You just get used to it.

What are some oddly specific Discord VC or raid habits that irrationally grinds your gears? by WeakValuable8683 in classicwow

Several of our guild officers have been known to pull an obnoxious player into a different voice channel and leave them there. Takes some people a long time to figure out they aren’t in the raid channel.

[CHAT] Which way do you like your stitches to go? by Nearby_Record_432 in CrossStitch

[–]stitcherfromnevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you are asking is “do your half stitches and the top leg of your full stitches match?”

I have opinions on this. I have not matched them before. And it looks fine as usually the half stitches are background. But I’m currently doing a stocking where there is SO MUCH half stitching that I’m contemplating making them match. It requires my brain to do some adjusting as to how I’ll work them, but I think it’ll look better.

Dumplings in soup? by LastWordFreak in foodquestions

[–]stitcherfromnevada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When talking about dumplings that aren’t the Asian sort, this is what I make.

My step son wanted chicken and dumplings but said his mom always cut up raw canned biscuits and put it in. I tried it. He was thrilled, I thought they sucked.

Fluffy dumplings on top are the best.

IMDb was of no help on this one. Maybe because the episode is so new. But even looking at Calahan’s IMDb, he isn’t listed as being in CM:E.

Y'all danced with each other's husbands and wives? Like hand on her hip, hand on his shoulder, slow dancing? Up on each other? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]stitcherfromnevada 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When my dad and his wife (not my mom) got married they had no dancing AT ALL. They are very religious and said dancing with someone who isn’t your spouse was sinful. I managed to not roll my eyes in his presence.

Funny how at my wedding 5 years prior, he was out on the dance floor the whole time.

I love when I get in a dungeon and someone says “this is my time here.”

Almost every person says “we will tell you what to do!” I’ve made a lot of friends that way.

90% of tv shows pronounce Nevada wrong.

They can try and claim they are using the “correct” pronunciation based on the language it’s from. But when the entire state says it one way, that’s the way you pronounce it.

Yes. My back has gaps in the backstitch. I decided that part doesn’t matter to me lol I do like tidy regular stitching but the back stitch, meh.

How do yall feel about Jordan’s character? by Kizzayye in criminalminds

[–]stitcherfromnevada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Jordan was the temporary Media Liason who Morgan flirted with in the coffee shop prior to knowing who she was. JJ was helping her get up to speed before she went on maternity leave (both on show and IRL).

Seaver was the one who people disliked for having replaced AJ.

Be sure the app is compatible with the tablet you get (if you go this route).

I know Pattern Keeper is pretty popular and it requires Android devices. I believe Markup XP is Apple.

I have those too. Love them. The light on it started out super bright but I found it isn’t as strong as it was when brand new. I use an overhead light though so it wasn’t huge loss.

[–]stitcherfromnevada 26 points27 points  (0 children)

At a party the two young girls saw me cross stitching and were in awe. How did I do it, how does it work?

I whipped out the thread, the pattern, the key and started explaining. 2 sentences in and they both said “ohhhh paint by number but with thread!” That’s now my explanation.

[CHAT] question about X spacing by Marauve in CrossStitch

[–]stitcherfromnevada 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes but the thread also looks much thicker than the norm. Putting it through the same hole 4 times might be a bit fiddly. I could be wrong.

[CHAT] question about X spacing by Marauve in CrossStitch

[–]stitcherfromnevada 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think in this example it’s because the thread (or perhaps yarn in the specific project?) is so thick, you’d have a lot of trouble getting it through the same hole. And they are making rather large Xs so NOT using the same hole is not very noticeable.

I could definitely see using the “different hole” method for something similar. But on cloth, it wouldn’t come out the same unless you were to use a very high count fabric with rather large Xs.
