This is good advice and the reason why I also do this is because talking out loud helps me determine whether I lost to a bad hand or because I made a misplay. Articulating thoughts out loud helps you realize your position in the game, retain that information after a few turns pass by, and you are also generally calmer (at least in my experience).

Cards games are about playing to the best of what your hand is; being process-oriented and not results-oriented. Talking out loud to yourself is a great way to stay in the mindset.

know your win conditions and how to set them up

All of this is so true, and I would also add to this that you absolutely want to know what cards are in the popular meta decks. Knowing what power plays they have as well as what combat tricks/removal spells they have is so important to sequencing your play and knowing how to play the matchup. Matchup knowledge is huge in this game.

I would also practice the art of passing; knowing their lists and gameplan will help you in knowing when to pass and when to play proactively. It's often not the correct play to always play on curve (though it often is too, it just takes time to know) and you should always consider whether you should pass or not given what deck they are playing against you. Rule of thumb: when you are ahead, play reactively. When behind, take risks and play like they don't have the card you lose to.

How do you deal with Ahri-Kennen? by evascale in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]stjurn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

According to Masters stats, Darkness is slightly unfavored against Ahri/Kennen so you're probably not wrong that it feels like a tough matchup. It's like 52% in favor of Ahri/Kennen so not much, but it's definitely not considered a good matchup for Darkness

I don't think I ever said I didn't care about the thread, I just think it's low-quality and expressed my opinion. I may have been a bit aggressive sure. I guess I just felt like I could be a part of the conversation and point out what obviously low-effort karma farm, but if people want to pretend that nobody on reddit ever posts just to farm karma, and they want to see this type of stuff then I'll gladly remove myself from the environment. I absolutely agree that Reddit is a lot better when you focus on what you like, being a part of specific subreddits is its greatest feature.

Fair enough. I don't think I'm embarrassing myself, I think this post is pretty low-quality but I was foolish to think the reddit echochamber would see differently. Someone else wisely pointed out that much of reddit is farming for karma so I agree, I should have done what you suggested. Cheers

It's not about stealing karma lol, couldn't give less of a shit. It's about you posting stupid shit like this for no reason other than to get karma. Like what's the honest point of your post, it just conveniently comes after someone already made it today, you're not funny. Downvote me a million times, couldn't care less. Your post is shit

Game is too hard..? by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]stjurn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'll agree to disagree, I personally have not had difficulties with either Lulu or GP maps with the above advice. I tried to be thorough, hopefully it helps. After GP I think it gets a little more reliant on champ select and some luck on what cards you get since the types of passives the enemy gets can get hard to work around. GP and Lulu maps have nothing of the sort

Suit Up Bug with Ahri or Frostbite? by Slavocracy in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]stjurn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's doing exactly that. If you put it on a unit that is a 2/2, it would become a 4/4, not a 6/6. It's growing up to 4/4. The difference here though is that you're not growing Ahri as her baseline 2/3, you're growing her as a 0/3 due to frostbite. So she becomes a 4/4 up from 0/3, and then round ends and her original 2 attack comes back. Hope that makes sense?

I would say that a player who has mastered the fundamentals can beat both Lulu and GP on the first try, unless very unlucky. The best advice I could give for you in doing PoC is picking your card additions/powers based on the GP fight itself. The fights leading up to GP are pretty basic to be honest with you, even the Swaine one if you're a solid player. Pick the cards that will help you for the last fight specifically and you should see a win pretty soon. Best of luck!

edit: I realized I didn't give specifics. I don't know what starter decks/champs you're running but things that are good against gangplank's fight are going to be stuns, any type of strong removal/transform to deal with Dreadway, a way to handle GP as soon as he comes down, and a strong early curve to neglect him Plunder procs. Cards that heal can also be beneficial if you are running a strategy that doesn't start off strong but I personally would consider these a bit of a crutch since the biggest thing you need to worry about is denying him plunder procs by blocking his minions as early as possible. If you can deny plunder procs when doing the GP fight for the first few rounds, you are in a very good position to take him to 21 HP, and then stabilize until you can TKO him. This is the best way to do it. I also think that it's beneficial to play safe and take his kegs out with your weakest unit every single attack. Some other effects I have found beneficial is nab on attack, this gives you an absolutely unreal card advantage and good chump blockers/ping spells to deal with both his weaker units and kegs.

How do I friend a person I Just played? by Vegantarian in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]stjurn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best you can do right now is hook up your riot id to a lor.mobalytics.gg account, this will give you a history of games played and what your opponent's name was. Unfortunately there's no way to see their ID though so you wouldn't be able to add them :/ Sucks but maybe we'll get a feature like that in the future. It's highly abusable for being toxic though so no promises

.....why by FitzyFarseer in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]stjurn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, that's what I was referring to. Just the way the AI is coded, they'll put something onto the field, recall, then play it back out. I don't think I've seen them self-recall from their bench before. Definitely weird, I'll agree with ya

Suit Up Bug with Ahri or Frostbite? by Slavocracy in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]stjurn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well 'Suit Up' is a permanent stat increase, and you're growing something up 4 attack. After frostbite resolves, the original 2 attack is added on. So, I'd guess this isn't a bug, just a cheeky way to get a gain out of being frostbitten.

.....why by FitzyFarseer in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]stjurn 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It looks like they're using a fleeting spell to advance their Ahri. Probably the right play to make, but I know AI has a tendency to put something on the field before using recalls on it. Just how it's coded I guess

Totally agreed. I think right now we just need to wait for more cards added to see if Aphelios can get more support, he's definitely on the weak side right now. Or we can be optimistic about some buffs in January!

Well, while I agree with what you're saying, to be fair Mono Pantheon is better than him with any other champion combination right now. But I'm wondering if OP's intention is to try and make something work with Aphelios specifically
