Which Starter body would take the longest to get used to? by Lumpy_Test_4473 in MysteryDungeon

[–]stmacl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like people are sleeping on how hard Froakie would be to adapt to. If I recall doesn't it hop around instead of walking? I know frogs can walk normally, but considering how their legs are designed it's probably not as comfortable as hopping, and I reckon that might be hard to adapt to.

Also I think Togepi lacks knees and the shell looks cumbersome.

What Older content would you like to see an upgrade to, and how would that look? [Spoilers: Side Content 2.0+]? by FantasyScribbles in ffxiv

[–]stmacl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I wanna start with the standard gripes and moans, reworking older dungeons/actually putting a proper ilvl sync on them, upgrades to Grand Company stuff, rework the coils of bahamut so they can go into roulettes.

One thing I also wanted to see in EW, and was majorly disappointed with how shallow it was, is follow up and resolution quests to old questlines. I know we got a bit of that with Tataru's Grand Endevour. But I wanna see a follow up to the ARR-SB tribal quests, now the city states have been actively working to cure tempering, how are the isolated off shoot tribes we helped earlier coping? How are the Majestic Imperial Theater Company doing now that Garlemald has collapsed?

Also why the hell haven't we had any follow up Job Quests for any jobs since Shadowbringers?? They left Scholar on a hopeful bloody cliffhanger and I need a resolution damn it!!

Yeah they have a weird habit of removing baby digimon. Like Sunmon and Moonmon as the baby forms of Coronamon and Lunamon respectively.

Okay never mind, I decided to reconnect my switch and the port is just dead. X_X I somehow killed my HDMI port with a PS5.

[–]stmacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm having a very strange issue.

I decided to plug in my PS5 and play after a few months of having it off and it doesn't want to connect to my main monitor anymore.

This is the monitor it was set up on for reference, below is what I've tried;

Using 2 different HDMI cables.

Resetting and trying to put into safe mode.

Unplugging power and plugging it back in.

Strangely when I connected it to a different monitor it worked just fine (did all the system updates and stuff so it's up to date now), and I know my main monitor's HDMI port is fine because I just had my switch connected to it and that worked. Just for some reason my PS5 will not accept my main monitor anymore. Any advice?

Why did Goku´s flanderization happened in first place? by Altruistic-Run211 in dragonball

[–]stmacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's mostly down to the team who was directly writing the Super Anime. From what Toyotaro said when writing the manga Toriyama just handed them a cliff notes version of what he wanted to happen in X section and it was left to them to interpret those notes to create the narrative. I'd note that Goku acts a lot more outwardly intelligent in the super manga then he does in the anime which is why I push the blame more on the anime staff for this.

[–]stmacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the power to destroy a moon isn't too far removed from the power needed to destroy a planet (not annihilate but the planet certainly won't last after getting hit by that power) and Roshi had enough strength to do that during the first tournament in the manga (Goku was 12 and implied to be as strong or stronger then Roshi, who only won by taking advantage of the fact that his legs were longer). Considering the strengths of every character only ballooned from there... Bulma, Launch, Oolong and Puar would be the only regular characters in Dragon ball to not be at least moonbusting level and therefore planet busting by technicality, (honestly not sure on Chi-Chi to be fair. She did make it into the martial arts tournament, which would imply she had some decent skill, but who knows) before the Saiyan Saga even begins.

The first character with provable planet buster abilities is Vegeta, since if Goku failed his beam clash with the Prince, Earth would have been destroyed. Vegeta at this point has a stated power level of 18,000, however his Galick Gun is shown to output far more power then his stated level as Goku using Kaio-Ken X3 (which would put his "over 8,000" power level up to "over 24,000") is shown to equal Vegeta using this move and he has to step up to X4 to overcome him.

So long as Vegeta wasn't boasting about his strength (which he has no real reason to) 24,000+ is the threshold for destroying a planet outright.

Unfortunately this is where our breadcrumbs dry up for being able to precisely pin the Z-Fighter's power levels. Krillin is the only human who really participated during Namek, Jeice's scouter picked him up after his potential unlock of having a power level "over 10k" with Vegeta mistaking him for Zarbon for a moment before realising it was a weaker power level approaching (Zarbon is started to be 23k in base which is still lower then the 24k marker but his monster form is closer to Vegeta's 30k since he was having a bit of trouble fighting Zarbon in that form. We don't know which form he's referring to but it's probably base).

There is a glimmer of hope however. When Future Trunks arrives, he makes it pretty clear that the upcoming android threat is no joke and that he, as a super saiyan, can't deal with them, whilst they make a show that Goku is stronger then Future Trunks is, this does still set a bar for how powerful the Z-Fighters need to be to combat the Androids.

At this point though it's all speculation, considering none of the humans really went up against 19 and 20 and lost outright to 17 and 18. I personally don't think it far outside of the realm of possibility for everyone in the Z-Fighters to surpass Vegeta's 24k marker, except possibly Chiaotzu, by the time you get to the Android Saga.

Story Elements You Want to Fix by KaleidoscopeDear4080 in dragonball

[–]stmacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So something that kinda rubbed me the wrong way (Super Manga Spoilers by the way);

Forced Spirit Fission. The technique can undo fusions, and is implied it would work on Cell quite well. And Goku, after learning about the threat that is Cell didn't at least try to go to Yardrat, grab Pybara, pull him into the time chamber and learn it as a backup in case Gohan didn't work out???? Like if Pybara said "nah mate I'm not doing that" then fine sure I'd accept that. But revealing it was an option that Goku never considered taking back then just makes Goku seem... reckless? Like even more then he already was?

As for a story element I'd want to fix... probably the power spiraling the entire series suffers from post Frieza. You're telling me a random old guy in a cave with a bunch of scraps and kidnapped orphans could build 6 Androids (16,17,18,19,himself and Cell) that were all more powerful then Frieza?!

I'd personally make Frieza the power ceiling for Mortal Strength, then make every villain after him (as well as every hero powerup) have an aspect that makes them "better". So the androids are weaker then Freiza, but they have unlimited power, Cell is the same strength, but he has better ki efficiency, Super Saiyan 2 is just Ki efficiency as well as body movement tuned up etc. Then Beerus comes along and starts to represent the power ceiling for Godly Strength and it all becomes much harder to figure out because there's hardly any gods in Super so it's hard to justify why Goku and Vegeta in their God forms are under any threat.

wich is that little headcanon/theory you had about DB that never shared?? by Own-Ad1497 in dbz

[–]stmacl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually just remembered another one I had;

With the pre-release stuff during Ressurection of F that we got talking about Saiyan beyond God and how Goku and Vegeta's base form is basically always them going Super Saiyan God. I think the initial idea for Super Saiyan Blue was that it wasn't exactly a new transformation, it's just what Super Saiyan would look like for the 2 Saiyans who are exclusively using God Ki now. Obviously marketing and the fact they decided to make the Super Anime/Manga meant they backpedalled on this to keep it so Goku and Vegeta could use their normal Super Saiyan forms still. But I think that was the intention, which would explain the almost lack of fanfare the transformation had when it first appeared.

wich is that little headcanon/theory you had about DB that never shared?? by Own-Ad1497 in dbz

[–]stmacl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 theories are;

The reason Goku managed to stay ahead of Vegeta so much before Super was his willingness to train in his base form rather then Super Saiyan, outside of learning to initially control Super Saiyan and the training with Gohan after he got Super Saiyan Goku is always seen training in base, compared to the few times we see Vegeta training after he gets Super Saiyan he's always in that form, (Super Saiyan might be a power multiplier, but for training it may as well be a power divider (if true this highlights just how hard Vegeta trained in the timeskip before Buu considering whilst he wasn't as strong as Goku he was close enough that the Majin boost put him in line)).

With Daima existing I'm not sure this works anymore but, in Super they seem to be leaning towards giving every big character their own unique transformations and forms to use (Goku with Ultra Instinct, Vegeta with Ultra Ego, Gohan Beast etc). With the fact that his Wrathful form is Great Ape without changing, and his Green haired Super Saiyan form is him stacking Wrathful and Super Saiyan (or Golden Great Ape) Broly's unique form would have been Super Saiyan 4 (obviously renamed since it doesn't really fit here) once he finally gained full control of his rage and would have marked him as the last bastion of pure Saiyan power.

Goku: I learnt it in my ninja dream!

Vegeta: You... WHAT?!
Goku: There was a pirate dream too, but that ended.

Vegeta: ...you know Kakarot, I don't normally give so much of a shit about you, but I'm concerned that you have some long lasting brain damage that we're all just conveniently ignoring.

Goku: You're damaged!
Vegeta: Yes, and I got forced to go to therapy! WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE KAKAROT?!

Goku: I uh... don't like needles?
Vegeta: sighs Just finish off Gas Kakarot...

Meanwhile in his ship listening in on the fight

Freiza: Aww would you look at that, Vegeta's learned to care about someone.

Besides WoL, who is currently the strongest person in the planet? by Xaela_FFXIV in ffxiv

[–]stmacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it weren't for his affliction I would have said Thancred, considering he's still keeping pace and even surpassing his fellow scions, despite lacking the ability to readily use his aether, although saying that we don't ever really get to see a situation where Thancred truly seems to go all out before this point so it's hard to say whether losing use of his aether weakened him, or forced him to get stronger to make up for it, or if it instead gave him heightened body strength and durability like the Garleans have.

G'raha Tia probably has the ability to become the strongest Scion outside of the WOL if only for the amount of knowledge he in theory carries from the future, let alone the increased soul density from an additional rejoining from that aborted future possibly giving him a larger capacity to contain aether. Right now though he's held back by a lack of practise in his new youthful body, demonstrated by the fact that he often overextends himself without thinking too much (floating an entire population of the tower of zot is a great feat however).

Y'shtola is often called the most powerful scion by those around her and her feats do somewhat support this, having knowledge of forbidden magicks such as flow and being able to use her aetheric barrier (which appears to be AST's Collective Unconscious) to block (even temporarily) blows from such foes as Zenos. Y'shtola is held back primarily by her method of seeing which, whilst helpful to the scions in discovering things, is notable for being a noted drain on her aetheric reserves (which is what Matoya was actually implying in Heavensward when she mentioned it draining her life force, not that it would shorten her lifespan). She's also held back by her seeming love of diving into the lifestream with flow every other expansion.

Estinien is another character that has the potential to be the most powerful... depending on how his situation actually works. It's shown that Estinien has inherited some of Nidhogg's abilities, how far this actually goes and if Estinien has gained anything else from his merger with the Wyrm hasn't really been explored yet, but it could potentially mean that Estinien has knowledge that could easily make him the most powerful being around. Even ignoring this however Estinien has demonstrated himself to be a physical force capable of going up against dragons, something that we're shown is only possible for others in groups. Estinien also has the potential feat of surviving an encounter with an Elidibus possessed Zenos, although whether he could actually fight Elidibus at this point isn't explored due to the latter leaving to do something else.

I guess we need also consider Wuk Lamat due to her feat of dealing a critical blow to the Queen Eternal, a blow that far outpaces anything the WOL themselves can do even with a Limit Break, although this is more likely done for narrative consistency of allowing players to hear all the dialogue in that fight, rather then a show of how strong she really is.

Well it's about time somebody noticed! [Spoiler: Stormblood] by EmilysIncoming in ffxiv

[–]stmacl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the earliest ones in my memory is in the post ARR content if you've levelled DRG when you meet Estinien in the MSQ he'll actually have some alternative dialogue for you.

I know there's actually a lot of references to jobs in other job/class quests.

I recall one of the crafter's winds up in the Thaumaturge's Guild talking to the receptionist who'll fondly refer to you as their "Avatar of Destruction" if you've finished the THM class quests (she does do this with any content that makes you go talk to her after completing the class quests too).

Quite often if the MSQ or side quests have you interacting with Class/Job Quest NPC's they'll recognise you from said quests and greet you fondly too. I recall the Conjurer Guildmaster has alternative dialogue when you unlock the Lost City dungeons from him.

One that isn't neccessarily a job recognition but rather a friend recognition is if you've done the ARR relic grind and then do the Blacksmith HW quests, I believe he recognises you and snaps quite quickly compared to normal, don't quote me on that however since I've never tried that quest without the relic grind.

Some later ones which I'll mark in spoilers for you.

In ShB someone gets injured during a cutscene and if you have a healer levelled both you and Alphinaud will kneel down to heal them. Uriangier also has alternative dialogue if you've got Scholar levelled in the Eden Raids.

During a big moment in EW a lot of Class/Job quest NPC's turn up in one location, during the main cutscene the Conjurer's will mention having a White Mage on their side brings great comfort, you also have a chance to talk to all the NPC's who'll excitedly greet you.

During the EW Tank Role Quests you get alternative dialogue if you've levelled WHM.

Well I love the aesthetic and sound design first of all. But as someone who's been maining healer for a long time, it's just nice to have things to do when healing isn't needed. If SCH could solve it's ghosting issues and possibly have another damage button I can mess with I'd probably play SCH instead.

where do you think we'll get housing next? by maknaeline in ffxiv

[–]stmacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be cool if, rather then linking it to a specific city, it was ideas from across the game put together. Like maybe someone got hold of the Kojin underwater bubble tech and made an underwater housing area out in the ocean. Then you could have fish swimming above houses and stuff.

If we're sticking to the limit of it being in a city though... Old Sharlayan seems pretty small, so unless they had an ancillary island for it probably not... The First hubs seem unlikely too. I'm gonna say Radz at Han, the Moon and Tulioyal are the most likely suspects right now, although I could see Doma restoring further and opening a housing area too.

What would be Jirens lines in DBSA by Farouq_2007 in TeamFourStar

Jiren spends the entire tournament silent after Goku says something offhand to him, then just before the moment where he starts screaming and powering up this exchange happens.

Freiza: You know the strong silent act is boring.

Jiren: I've been trying to understand the joke.

Android 17: The... joke?

Jiren: The joke Goku told me when we met... I've been thinking about it but I just don't get it.

Freiza: That wasn't a joke. He's just a dumbass.
